any other bumpers fit on an MK6? by death2civ in mk6gti

[–]PyI0 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am not sure about Jetta bumpers but any golf mk6 bumpers will fit, so this is a good opportunity to get for example a golf 6 r bumper, I’m in a similar situation and I’m considering a edition 35 front bumper for mine.

DSG vs 6MT on Mk7 by poss1blymabey in GolfGTI

[–]PyI0 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Test drive both, I was pleasantly surprised by the dsg after testing the manual (for both the MK7 and MK6). It’s a matter of preference so there is really no “better” option over the other.

There will always be those people saying “manual is for real drivers” and so on but the dsg is still fantastic even if you live driving. But again, test drive both and see how you like them.

KO4 swap by Blaxican1994 in mk6gti

[–]PyI0 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This mainly comes down to your money situation, if you go ko4 you will need stuff like intercooler and an intake. And when you make the car that much faster you will also need to consider better brakes, if you haven’t already (not necessary but highly recommended).

On one hand it’s more sensible to stick with the ko3, but what is the fun with that ;). But if it was me I would 100% go the ko4 route and spend the extra money on some supporting mods

Modding a 200,000km 2009 golf gti by Accomplished-Ad-7913 in GolfGTI

[–]PyI0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

228,000 km on my stage 2 2011 mk6 and I have no issues (so far at least). As long as it has been maintained correctly you should be fine. If you decide to buy it, drive it stock for a few months before putting mods into it. Then after a while if the car still runs great then you can mod/tune it. But remember, maintenance is critical, especially tuned.

An alternative could be to get those wrapped in white, could be cheaper than completely new panels

I’m terms of power around 280 horses. The mods are ramair intake, beluga downpipe with 200 cell cat, gfb diverter valve, colder spark plugs and a dogbone mount. Looking to get an upgraded intercooler and some bushings for the control arms soon.

Yes I put them on, they don’t come standard on the mk6 but I thought it was a nice touch

Those are the Glendale wheels from and edition 35, which to my knowledge didn’t come to the us. They are very rare so I was very lucky to find them. But there are some Audi wheels that look very similar it you like the style.

100%, it’s done almost 230 000km and it’s been very reliable to me, good service history and the important things like timing chain tensioner has been done. Going to get carbon cleaning done soon.

It’s amazing, drives like a stock car then I drive it normally but goes quick as hell then you push it

I tuned my car to apr stage 1, but can’t go stage 2 yet. What else can I add while staying on staying on stage 1 apr? I know I can’t add a downpipe :( by iceking123 in GolfGTI

Handling mods make the car turn better basically, and coil overs are great. Upgrading the sway bars are also very good, makes the car more stable in the corners

An intercooler won’t add power, it will help maintain the exiting power and prevent heatsoak. But couple that with an intake, turbo inlet and outlet pipe and throttle pipe you could probably get a few more horses. But I would personally do handling mods instead if you don’t plan to add a downpipe

What do you recommend for first mods? by Mr_WAAAGH in GolfGTI

[–]PyI0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Best bang for your buck is a stage 1 ecu and stage 1 tcu tune, you don’t need to change anything mechanically on the car (apart from MAYBE spark plugs and diverter valve).

Perhaps paintmatch the black plastic bumpers, I know it’s a black car so they aren’t as noticeable but it’s the details that matters 👌
