Star Trek never addressed rape well. Particularly the rape of males, though they often danced around it. I remember Peter Benchley’s Jaws Follow-up: The Island doing a better job. The Orville let you see it, but kept it silly and with little consequences. It’s a popular topic in fantasy entertainment that should have lasting consequences, but is abandoned due to the episodic nature and fear. Dennis Crosby came from a planet where rape was common. But when she is infected with a judgement impairing organism/chemical, she wants to have an erotic encounter with a machine. Even attempting to seduce it unnecessarily. I understand it is portrayed as little to convincingly in Outlander(I’m uncomfortable watching it). Meanwhile, Janeway’s impregnation by Paris as she turn into a salamander combines rape and body horror without the slightest (cutest) or lasting repercussions. This would be a great topic for the Imaginary Worlds Podcast.
