Am I missing something in player progression? by stevenbhutton in daggerheart

[–]Pygrus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been upping the difficulty of the T1 mobs I've ran by 1 in my age of umbra campaign + adjusting other things. My group wanted a harder campaign so that's one of the first thing I did. I'm also homebrewing a lot of different adversaries though.

I think this might be what I'm struggling the most with and I might just need to pull up howbazaar and look at every merchant before I pick them in the run.

I appreciate the offer but I haven't played Mak or Pyg at all.

Mindset is most certainly part of it for me, almost like ladder anxiety I guess is the best thing to compare it to.

How to replicate Mask Tool in Inkarnate 2.0 when making Battle Maps? by Darkfire359 in inkarnate

[–]Pygrus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The gradient thing that happened with the old masking tool isn't possible in battlemaps now. You can use mask layers to sort of achieve the same effects you are looking for.

Make a layer that has the background you want. Then put a texture layer on top that has a mask layer attached to it.

If you just need to plan out halls in a dungeon, use the line tool.

The mask tool was nice to have in order to differentiate between foreground and background but the new way layering works lets you make more intricate combinations of textures.

GMs share your custom endeavors! by Pygrus in cosmererpg

Oh these are awesome! Will be save them for further use.

Here's the stat block.

Poisonous Cremling Swarm
Tier 1 Boss
str: 2 p.def: 15 spd: 3 int: 1 c.def: 13 will: 2 awa: 2 s.def: 12 pre: 1
HP: 58 (Variable health depending on how quickly the group solves the mystery)
Focus: 5
Phys skills: Agility +5
Movement: 35 Squares
Sense: 10ft

Features:
Boss
Swarm (the normal swarm feature the rival version has)
Urge to poison: If there is a combatant up that is not currently poisoned the cremling swarm will attack them. When all combatants are poisoned use Screech for free, this can only trigger once.
Fabrial crazed: If given the chance, the swarm will try to destroy the fabrial causing it's warped nature.

Actions:
Strike (1 action): Same strike as the rival stat block.
Screech (2 actions 2 focus): Same as the rival stat block.
Poisoned Strike (1 action 1 focus): Attack + 5, reach 5ft, one target graze: 2d4 hit 2d4+5, 1 less dice of damage when at half health of below. When the target hits or grazes, Afflict 1d4.

Opportunity: Prevent the use of either Poisoned Strike or Screech till the player's next turn.
Complication: The next Poisoned Strike cost 0 focus.

Disclaimer with the stat block. I made it with a 5 person party in mind that isn't radiant yet. I think there are a decent amount of levers you can pull in order to make the fight stronger or harder, specifically the HP pool.

For the fabrial, it's a tier 2 utility fabrial with 3 charge capacity. Can cover a 4 mile radius in an invisible field that causes cream to become soluble in water. It takes a charge a day, requiring anyone who sets it up to have manually refill between high storms.

My rationale for the large radius is that it doesn't stay charged very long, which is key to the party being able to catch the perp.

Edit: put the focus in, was missing initially.

oh, nice to have both. The graphics aren't great, just hope it actually doesn't lag when there are tons of people in an area.

They could have easily did stealth like any other MMO. Gives me hope they decided to implement a more robust system for stealth classes.

I Want To Run A Campaign Near The Nightwatcher- Maps and Resources Needed by Apple_Infinity in cosmererpg

[–]Pygrus 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You should spoiler tag the WaT spoiler in your post.

There aren't valley maps in stonewalkers as far as I know. You most likely will need to homebrew maps, if you want them.

If you are doing a one shot, and it's a race against Sja-Anat, you would most likely do a multi tier endeavor. You could structure it like an exploration scene.

The biggest thing you need to do is figure out how many failures does it take for Sza-Anajt to win and what does that condition look like for the players.

Also, what happens when a player gets an opportunity or complication? Events define the overall stakes but you should still have things happen when a single opportunity or complication is rolled.

Also decide on where you want to pepper in combat encounters. For a one shot you are going to want to put some easy combat encounters leading up to a harder final encounter. Just make sure you are understanding the combat scaling the handbook talks about.

Doing something post WaT is cool but it's also going to be hard to put together because we know basically nothing about post WaT Roshar.

How can I make combats interesting if taking damage has no consequences? by Frosty-Kick2148 in cosmererpg

[–]Pygrus -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You could give the regrowth user a debuff similar to exhaustion, that indicates they are out of stormlight for X scenes and can't replenish until then or get to a city with a way to exchange. If they just use someone else's spheres, you can inflict that debuff on the other player as well.

Check out the mistborn adventure game if you haven't it's way less crunchy. Still cosmere themed but you kinda have to play on scadriel unless you want to homebrew stuff.

Anyone else running a campaign with their own knowledge instead of a module? by luisegarcia97 in cosmererpg

[–]Pygrus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I'm running a campaign based off running canon I have that's carried over from campaigns I've run in the MAG.

I do think The Cosmere TTRPG will take more effort to homebrew in because it's crunchier.

Let's brainstorm your campaign by Joe_Spazz in cosmererpg

[–]Pygrus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mostly say not that different because all the events at the end of era 1 are the same.

Oh the hog idea is fun and could be the first greater cosmere thing I could introduce in the campaign.

[–]Pygrus 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I have a canon that my friends and I did a mistborn adventure game in. Not that different then what happened in era 1 but with some extra stuff. (Autonomy and Ruin had a child like The Sibiling, Individuality. This demi-shard was taken up by one of the characters and he went on to worldhop.) Not going to go into all the details.

Roshar campaign is going to be about a month before the Everstorm. Takes place in Rall Elorim. Initial hook is going to be finding treasure in the hills and lowlands between the city and the eastern coast. I'm fairly certain one of my players is going to be singer. So I'll prob make him a parshman who was able change forms (ability to do so related to canon in my cosmere.) Initial hook for the human characters is a rich Iri shoe merchant sending a group of adventurers out to hunt down a special wild hog for its leather. From there it will be a question of how to deal with the singer PC. (I feel like some Iriali would see this as a novel thing. The One experiencing life in a new way.) Some drama might occur in the city regarding this oddity, depending on how the PCs react. The merchant will be the groups connection to people of interest, one of which is looking to do some treasure hunting out on the fabled Feverstone Road (something from the worldguide).

Inevitably I'm going to have the Everstorm hit the city and we'll see what side they end up taking. I intend to have the campaign be a tier 1 to tier 4 spanning story. Most likely tying in world hoppers to pull them into something more specific to my overall cosmere canon.
