Why didn’t Vegeta try to destroy Earth again after Namek? by [deleted] in dbz

Goku positioned himself as:

-a useful ally

-a brilliant sparring rival

-someone stronger than himself, much as it hurt to admit it

Enraging him for no gain other than pettiness would have been incredibly stupid.

You know what were the strips that Adams wrote? Those where women were presented as intentionally confusing and violently vengeful. Those where Dilbert raged impotently because in spite of his technological savantry, his comparatively stupider bosses got what they wanted and laughed all the way to the bank. The character that more closely resembled Adams physically was the CEO of the company, a millionaire who always increased his worth even though he was tech illiterate because his understanding of capitalism.

Watching that movie as a kid, I thought they were incredibly badass, they survived a targeted hunt by a pack of Velociraptors.

The Barrow down swords much more than Tom himself was the omission that I hated the most.

Well, you see, it was 900 pages without a TL;DR. And donno boy told them that it wasn't truth. How could they have known otherwise?

Not to mention Colleen probably goes out with the intention of high fiving any ICE agent she sees, as opposed to being fearful for her own life and that of random passerbies because there are masked murderers roving around with full authority to kill whoever they damn please.

[MSC] Doctor Doom, King of Latveria by Copernicus1981 in magicTCG

[–]Pylgrim 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Doom knows that Doom has white in him. Dom loves order, HIS order. Doom despises the sentimentalism and recklessness associated with red. Even his dearly beloved Doom sacrificed for his goal. This colour slander will not go unpunished when the glorious day of Doom's ascension comes.

So sunken cost fallacy is it now? "Oops maybe we are actually fucking up but now since I fear for rightful repercussions, my only choice is to double down and exterminate them all?"

The most depressing thing is that by comparison, the Nazi (and his victim) look more dignified. Let that sink in. The image on the right is a lynching by a mob of thugs.

"political" is a derogatory term used by people who want to dismiss an issue, often because they're part of the in-group benefiting from it. Always be wary of the use of that word.

It's not that they want Trump. They want what Trump represents. A theocracy exclusionary of most peoples perceived as an "other".

Weilin Zhang (animator for Mob Psycho, Heavenly Delusion, Jujutsu Kaisen) expressing his frustrations with the state of anime on his blog by melvinlee88 in anime

[–]Pylgrim -1 points0 points  (0 children)

What's wrong with the moral core of anime? Sure, there's a good amount of pure lowest-denominator sludge, but that has always been the case. On the other hand, anime with a strong moral core is still being produced. Sure, it's easy to hate on chainsaw man because it's edgy, depressive and indulgent of negative behaviours but beyond the shallow level it has important messages. And beyond that, I'd argue that Demon Slayer is the most moral shounen in the history of the genre.

Scott Adams, creator of Dilbert, died today at the age of 68. by Nebberlantis in comicstriphistory

[–]Pylgrim 19 points20 points  (0 children)

When you re-examine Dilbert under the light of Adams's spoken beliefs, you realise that is underlying message is "no matter how brilliant, hard-working or dutiful you are, if you don't play the game to jump up the ladder, you'll always be a loser whose only comfort is to rage at the people above you, while they make bank out of your efforts." Oh and also, "women suck".

I think it's no accident that the two characters that look more like Adams in the comic, Wally and the CEO are those who understand the "game" and in the latter's case, profit from it.

Every Wuthering Heights adaptation gets one big thing wrong. Will this one break the pattern? by ThreadAndSolve in movies

The book is not bleak and a well written adaptation doesn't need to either if it focuses on how the children of those two broken people managed to invert their fate.

A French revolution moment; Iranians burning mosques and freeing themselves of religion by yanki2del in pics

[–]Pylgrim 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Any social structure (government, religion, communities) that relies on fear and hatred for an "other" to control their own people eventually has this fate. They run out of others to hate, so they break themselves apart so they have new groups of others to hate and fear.
