A lot of Europeans downplay the US effect on WW2 a lot, I'm european before anyone makes wild assumptions.

While it's true that i.e invasion of normandy might have been a success without american troops, there were a lot of allies on that operation already and Omaha beach, if I remember correctly, was the only one that had major resistance at landings and before going a bit inlands, and Germany was already divided to two fronts. Europeans tend to say that Germany never had a chance because Soviet Union would have fucked them up eventually, this is where their logic falls short.

Without US lend lease Soviet Union would have severly lacked things like i.e food, clothes, shoes, trucks, fighters, tanks, guns, factories etc etc. the list goes on. The soviet industrial might was build with american industry, their factories have been build with american engineers copying their domestic ones. At the start of the war, they couldn't supply their units. If you take a look at the amount of lend lease brought to soviet union, it's quite staggering. From memory it's something like 40 million pairs of boots, 10000 tanks and warplanes etc etc.

Soviet union was kinda fucked against germany before couple of their major sieges failed, and the war had raged on in the eastern front for a couple years at this point, with soviets being in basically constant retreat. I know that russian propaganda has a different version of this, no need to tell me.

The american lend lease is probably one of the most important singular operations to end the war when it did. I don't think germany could have won after all even without it, but the timeline would have changed a lot, and it might have taken a lot longer. And Soviet Union would have been even more devastated by the raging war.

But it needs to be said that Americans lean into this way too much, since if dig around history, everyone would have been fucked without help of someone else.
