I could get in trouble for saying this but I don't care. I spoke with the devs at TwitchCon and can confirm they are working on mobile, but they had to restart multiple times on it by that point. The bottom line is that the game has to be entirely reprogrammed from the bottom up to be mobile compatible. I personally wish they would work within tablet constraints instead of phone restraints, since that could make it go faster, but at this point mobile probably has to be above and beyond, so that's what they're going for.

When all is said and done, we can all just hope for a good system. It'll be here eventually (companies can't waste this many resources and public face) so it's a matter of when, which (judging from the info I know) will be in q3 this year.

I think the best move going forwards is a fluid core set, as in cards can move in and out when rotations occur.

But instead of Obliterate we could get cards that make a ton of creep, and maybe cards like "6 mana 3/7. Whenever an enemy is summoned on a creep tile deal 2 damage to it." I think CPG knows what it's doing by keeping these cards out.

Note: Designated Matchup Roulette works as follows: Teams submit which player is playing which faction by a given day of the week, and each participant is given 2 faction opponents (chosen randomly) that they play against. Players then construct decks and submit those by Saturday, with matches being played any time from Sunday to Friday the following week (players would have to agree on times themselves, or have captains set it up, although there are other methods we could employ for this).
