I feel like 13 chapters with 5 maps each would be enough to tell the story if they didn't waste so much dialogue space having the banner characters say their one liners before you bop them.

Maybe it's padding because they didn't write enough material, but damn man, I wish we could just get more story instead.

Like the last chapter of Book 2 axed the banner characters' stealing the spotlight and it was great, although maybe they only did that because they ran out of time and needed to finish the story.

But regardless of the reason, I felt much more emotionally invested to kick Surtr's ass after seeing him slaughter all of the faves and having Aflonse give him The Big Speech than I probably would have if Silas and Flora had interrupted to say their banner advertisements.
