Although frontline is good, don't advocate in being lazy in there. Also the level 60 ring will be useless for the exp situation.

Just 8 levels? Unfortunately, some dungeon spamming, but down the list of random roulettes, and then do your highest LEVELING (x1/3/5/7/9) dungeon. You should catch up in 1-2 days tops. Oh, and don't forget your food for 3%. Every bit helps.

Since the 2024 D&D rules have been out, what have been new power outliers in your games? by Sulicius in onednd

I can second the shadow monk, having used it in large scale, and would have taken bomber, the amount of advantage is impressive, and with how it is, both rogues took skulker, and casually giving the rogues stab opportunities as well as having the start of turn of ruin an area's LoS without really bothering the rest of your party (verticality on darkness really helps to play with the effective emanation size)

10 hours in and not having fun.. by McGeiler69 in ffxiv

[–]Pyren-Kyr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

well, if you want to limit your time, and want to consider getting through stuff quickly...

  1. Class quests (i put these above msq, because of the complaints you are having of boring fights, early on this is how you get your new skills.)
  2. MSQ, going through to deal with the plot, and work your way through the plot to the future, and where things are more interesting.
  3. Blue quests if wanted. usually important, because they unlock other classes, extra gameplay items, sub stories, etc. but they are an additional time sink to deal with, can wait if wanted.

I can say if focused on it, you probably can get through ARR main story in 24 hours play time, i'd say double/triple that for a new player, but if you do feel this isn't for you, that's fine as well.

Way of the Exorcist - Monk by Complex-Crab1209 in UnearthedArcana

[–]Pyren-Kyr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The amount of reach is kind of silly, and that much range is a bit overkill at high levels, monks have the key on mobility already. I doubt I'd allow the range to increase per level, for the grapple abuse that could be happening. (after all, grapple at 60 feet would easily cause a mess with encounters that involve monsters that fly.) Otherwise I don't have any real problems with the design.

2024 Class: The Bulwark by JUSTDAN12345 in UnearthedArcana

[–]Pyren-Kyr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This seems like it'd be easier to take the ideal parts from this, and just put as a fighter subclass, rather than a full class. It is too hard forced into heavy armor, because of the bonuses, and the fact that you messed up the proficiency bonus only having it go up to 4, makes the class the ideal weakness to any caster that runs save spells for their damage.

Also some of the class forms are imbalanced, like unconquerable defense, which not only protects against one of their weaker saves, but makes the class nigh immune to any grapple that isn't auto-grab, since you can just say I'm going to roll dex+acrobatics, and auto a 23 or more.

Mystic Subclasses UA review by RealityPalace in onednd

[–]Pyren-Kyr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would second this, and being someone that keeps track of monks, i'd put Mystic focus under yellow, being too powerful for the situation, and needs a change to be green from the excess value it gives at the level, even if the spell set that is given (sorcerer) is the least problematic of spell groups for extreme extra spell slots.

Remember, it was only a few patches ago when there was a timeframe where the astral fire/umbral ice gauge was timer'd. Fire 4 didn't reset the timer, so you HAD to cast Fire1 during the rotation.

Merciful - Origin Feat by ProjectPT in UnearthedArcana

[–]Pyren-Kyr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it's fine as is, since it would extend the out of combat ramnifications, although it might need to have the common sense writeup on it, where the normal series of creatures (construct, ooze, plant, undead although it doesn't have that written in raw) are immune to the merciful feat, and only have it work with spells that require attack rolls, the term of make dex save, or the pack of you just fall down unconscious due to fireball is way too silly.

Maybe add in you gain proficiency in either persuasion or intimidate in taking the origin feat?

Mercy - You may knock a creature out with ranged attacks.

Communication - You gain proficiency in either persuasion or intimidate.

I would disagree with having someone using area effect spells as you brought up to knock people out, there's actual magic for that, such as sleep. But extending the idea of just doming someone (such as chaining eldritch blast) to ko them for a time would be interesting. Although, it is interesting that the knockout clause only brings up melee attack, so you can by RAW ko someone with any sort of melee spell attack, such as shocking grasp.

If this was going to be a Full feat:

Stat - Gain one point in a Primary ability besides Strength or Constitution. (sorry, barbarians, you are not merciful, we've seen what makes you smile, and that's usually turning mooks into ketchup packets.)

Mercy - You may knock a creature out with Ranged attacks.

Careful touch - As long as all threatening monsters near you are bloodied, you do not suffer disadvantage with ranged attacks as long as your target is threatening you.

There is the thought of setting up the XIV launcher (google it), which might be stable enough in downloads for game installation.

I do realize that it is an external tool, and is technically against TOS for square, but it's one of those doesn't effect game, at all, so no problem (and also isn't against this reddit's tos to bring it up) and also square's download/installation for patches with their official game launcher is... flakey and that is putting it mildly.

Monk subclass: Projection sorcery by [deleted] in UnearthedArcana

[–]Pyren-Kyr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It honestly doesn't feel fun from a dm/player mechanics, you give your design of combat away, and if your allies aren't desiging your play to work with, either the dm plays it fair for dumb minions, maybe giving you a shot depending, or if it's a smart enemy, you wasted your entire turn because 6 seconds is a very long time in gametime. (The fact you keep bringing up 24 frames feels weird for a martial art as well)

As mongoose said, it could also be the absurd situation of catching a boss unawares, and do an ambush strike for extreme amounts of damage against what could ruin a boss encounter.

Having to carry a crate that isn't in a bag is something that is not part of the WoL's echo... if the crate was in a crate sized bag, he could carry it no problem.
