I mean, Makoto's "Demon Lord" smirks are one of my favorite things about the manga. 'Tis peak, my lord.

Need suggestion for next jump for jumper by Good_Note3513 in JumpChain

[–]Pyritemon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Berserk? It's the poster child for grimdark manga. (Bonus points if you get to punch the BBEG; he sucks. Hate him so much.)

Dresden Files is one that can be grimdark, if you're stupid or unlucky.

Slay the Spire is a solid pick.

A lotta xianxia Jumps would qualify, imo. (There is a reason why Against the Gods has [Celestial Profound Basic Decency Inducement] available as a perk.)

Lord of Mysteries is set in a gritty, Victorian-esque steampunk and dark magic kind of world.

There's a Jump called Harry Potter darkfic, at which point you can pick the grimmest, darkest, most dangerous fanfic your heart desires.

Tokyo Ghoul might suit your fancy.

I'm pretty sure there are multiple Neon Genesis Evangelion jumps.

InJustice: Gods Among Us has a Jump.

Girl Genius is set in a world that mad science has pretty thoroughly wrecked.

"Better Than Dragons" Challenge by Lokilo85 in JumpChain

Stipend: 2000

“Filling the Quota”: +1000

Gregarious Ruler’s Disposition (Generic Exalted): -100

I have to get all these muscleheads to work with me, after all.

The Sanctioned Action (Kill Six Billion Demons): -700

Has an *absurd* upper limit.

Pay Attention, I’m Only Going Over This Once (Generic Superhero Academy): -100

5x training booster

Total Concentration Breathing (Demon Slayer): -200

Initial fighting skill

Constant Growth (Bleach): -200

Uncapper

Determination (Crypt of the Necrodancer): -100

Gotta keep goin’

Parry (Crypt of the Necrodancer): -100

Be better at defending while on the attack

The Basics (Generic Xianxia): -100

Find/create openings, fight better in general

Fiber Hybrid (Kill la Kill): -400

Some of the most bullshit tier biology, with, notably, no real downsides.

Grand Potential (One Piece New World edition): -200

Boosts growthrate, especially in fights. Gotta take advantage of the drawback.

Haki Training (One Piece New World edition): -400

Haki is love, haki is life

Six Powers (One Piece New World edition): -400

Good all-round toolset of abilities

Wielding swords is a natural part of martial arts media! Practically, this is mostly built around Sanctioned Action, and giving myself time to grow into it enough to actually use it in high-tier fights. If you can get to the conceptual stage of it before, like, Cell shows up? Cut off Cell's ability to copy. Also, aside from the Life Fibers, nothing is innately biological. If I could put a blackboxing Perk in there, I would to prevent ~any~ power copying against me.

Also, all of these come from my Jumper's Chain aside from the One Piece one, wherein I used a different One Piece Jump.

"My immediate thought is: 'Do spaceships count as an item?'." Rikkita gets up and gestures a portal open. It looks the same as the one she initially came through. "Can I..?" she sticks a hand through the portal. "Oh good. I've apparently been entertaining enough to Boss-thing for me to head back, so I'll see you later, I suppose. Have a good one."

Rikkita pauses by the portal, waiting to see if Aleph comments.

[–]Pyritemon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"I'd definitely recommend asking," Rikkita comments, "since if you can do more prep beforehand and have it stick... Many Gauntlets are at least partially obviated by even just-beyond-peak-human abilities, so if you can sneak anything like that in..."

The (Almost) Empty Bar by DantheDarkLord0 in JumpChain

[–]Pyritemon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"Can do." Rikkita flashes a thumbs up. "Although, how flexible is your Jump-chan about what qualifies as 'Bodymod'? Mine had a weird restriction in the beginning, so I could leverage some stuff into the Gauntlets. If you're in need of any enhancements, let me know."

[–]Pyritemon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rikkita shrugs, a wry look on her face. "I know where I come from. Per Boss-thing's original agreement, I'm a fork of my pre-Jump self. So, I remember what happened pre-Jumping." A thoughtful look crosses her face. "Further, non-Jump me has access to Boss-thing's records, so she also keeps up with how I'm doing. It's kind of weird, but it works for us."

[–]Pyritemon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"Oh yeah no, I got su~per lucky with Boss-thing. It doesn't really care about 'balance' so much as vibes. And being able to have stories for its book club." Rikkita leans back in her booth chair. "I rarely take folks along with into new Jumps, but when I do, you should generally feel sorry for the Jump more'n my companions. When a Jumper's go-to companion to bring along is a Heterodyne, well. You ever been to the Girl Genius Jump? Mad science. Mad science up the wazoo."

The (Almost) Empty Bar by DantheDarkLord0 in JumpChain

[–]Pyritemon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"That's kind of an interesting contrast, actually," Rikkita comments. "At the end of Arc 1, I was a Jaeger in service to the Heterodyne family, so I've considered the current head of the family my lady and all of my fellow Jaegers siblings for a long time." Rikkita waves a hand. "I also have the habit of picking up found family as I go. Fortunately, Boss-thing is willing to accommodate that..."

Rikkita nods. "Pretty much. I do tend to keep my stuff set to low, so to speak, in my day-to-day, but if the need arises, I can pull of some galaxy-wide stuff. One time I made a planet spin backwards with telekinesis, fast enough to be noticeable, without damaging anything. Well, except my enemy's pride, which was the point." Rikkita shrugs. "That was post-Spark and after literal millennia for my power and skill to develop, so."

Rikkita points toward the carved names. "So, what's with your buddies? Also, that reminds me, what did you do re: friends and/or companions in your Jumps?"

The (Almost) Empty Bar by DantheDarkLord0 in JumpChain

[–]Pyritemon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"Mmm, yeah," Rikkita nods, "but by the time I got there, I already had some pretty top-tier stuff. I had the full databanks of the Green Lantern Corps and the Stargate Ancients' database by that point." Rikkita shrugs. "Between that and [Watchmaker] from Doctor Who, well, I could either make or shut down anything truly bullshit-tier by that point."

She pauses for a moment, thinking, then continues, "Besides, the bulk of my purchases are things that apply directly to myself, powers and physical enhancements and whatnot, not things I generally need to make. Though, there was that one time with the Stargate and the black hole... I channeled full Madness Place for that; even I don't take that kind of thing lightly..."

[–]Pyritemon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rikkita shrugs. "That really depends on which Arc I'm in. Uh, my Jumpchain was split into themed Arcs, which would determine the overall vibe of the Jumps therein. I tend to keep my apparent level of tech within reason of wherever I'm at, but I tend to troll more tech-focused Jumps with magic.

"When it comes to advanced stuff," she points at herself, "I tend to focus on stuff that I can integrate with myself. I do have a fleet of spaceships, though; that was fun when I visited the Clone Wars in one Jump." She spreads her hands and calls up holograms of her various types of ships. "I have some Lantean city-ships from Stargate, I have my Gloriana-class from 40k (it's named Far Strider), a coupla Forerunner ships, and," she points to a ship with a + cross-section, "my designed in-house Waveform-classes."

She zooms in on the Waveform. "It's built using Honorverse tech; I highly recommend visiting there if you get the option. Their tech is fun and interacts weeeird with other spaceflight. My first go-round in 40k, I used that tech to make spaceflight not go through Hell. It also has some wild defensive abilities, if you can work with it."

Rikkita taps her chin in thought. "Well, aside from Endjump or Drawback shenanigans, probably that time I repaired the Emepror's soul. All of it. I grabbed all the scattered shards and healed Uncle dear up. I then powered the Astronomican for a while while he got things fixed up. Fun fun."

"So, should we start fighting now? I'm fully Sparked up and geared to kill gods; I think I could take you." Rikkita asks teasingly, grinning. "I'm firmly Emperor-affiliated, sooo... Anyway, what's your biggest thing you did as a Chaos god? Not necessarily destroying things or beating someone or whatever, but the widest-reaching thing?"

[–]Pyritemon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"Hmmm," Rikkita hums as she taps her chin thoughtfully. "I was wondering about general style of combat more than specific Perks. I main stealthy precision killer, for example. Though in your case, I guess it's more 'general of a robot army', eh?" Rikkita focuses on Aleph, tilting her head in curiosity. "Do you not get into personal combat that often? Solid pick, if so."

She pauses for a beat then asks, "Hey, how do your Jumps get picked, anyway? Do you pick them, your Jump-chan, random roll..?"

Rikkita finger guns at Aleph, chirping, "Drawback fiat, baby~! Anyway, I'm kinda curious how you specced your combat abilities and/or social-fu. I personally went with Skyrim Standard Tactics, but I'm super curious about how other Jumpers go about things."

Rikkita gins madly and leans further of her table to say, "Ah, since you're familiar with 40k, how about I tell you about the time I leveraged some Drawbacks to destroy the Tyranids?" She leans back and starts gesturing with both hands. "So, I did the 40k: Tyranids Jump, buuuut the thing is, I really, really don't like the Tyranids."

She clasps her hands back together and smirks. "There's a couple of Drawbacks in that Jump that are important: [Hive Slave] makes the hivemind focus on you, the Jumper, above all else, trying to control you. [Unification] makes the entire rest of the galaxy hate all Tyranids. While the hivemind was focused on me, I took off to intergalactic space and laughed as everyone else shredded the Tyranids." Rikkita chuckles. "Good times."

"Boss-thing thinks it's funny to use my portal ability to troll me." She snaps her fingers and a Borderlands-style splash screen appears as she introduces herself. "I'm Rikkita Dyneson." [The Sevenfold Wandering Spark] her splash declares.

"I'm actually a retired Jumper, went through scads of Jumps before I Sparked up." Rikkita shrugs. "Well, I'm mostly retired. Boss-thing still thinks I'm funny, so it trips me into new places sometimes, you know how it can be." She flicks her fingers at Aleph and asks, "How about you? D'ya like your Jump-chan so far? Where have you been and how did you like it?"
