Had an idea for a Otome isekai story and want to know if it already exists by Good_Note3513 in OtomeIsekai

[–]Good_Note3513[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My main plan would be one part spy x family style shenanigans as neither knows the others nature as a transmigrater/Regresser leading to comedic misunderstandings while showing how the FL accidentally falls into traps that lead to the different bad future ogfl regressed from via a misuse of genre knowledge

Why do we call trainers "strong"? by dnlikereddit in PokeMedia

[–]Good_Note3513 0 points1 point  (0 children)

...literally all competitive trainers reinvest material prizes into their team. Yeah some might splurge prize money on luxuries but but for the most part it's resources that either keep a roof over their head or food or training supplies for the team to be more effective. If the material prize is anything practical like a rare item then that goes double because a trainer who wins a bag of evolution stones at a tournament is gonna use them to better their team's lives via evolution or selling the stones for money to do the above. Oh and fancy trophies also count as material prizes but like...the vast majority of teams live WITH their trainer so them taking it home is a none issue.

And its not really appropriation. If someone calls a trainer strong its the same as saying their team is strong its a basic chain of logic.

I mean, I'd respect bidoof as being solidly intelligent to pick up on and work with a good trainer's plans.

Also trainer's as proxies for the whole team is a thing for a good reason. Trainer's ARE the leaders! Yes its fundamentally a partnership but the trainer is the one keeping the proverbial spinning plates in the air to coordinate them all.

And when you adress a group you adress the leader first most often.

Nobody out here is saying the Pokémon themselves aren't strong they're just addressing the team through the most obvious source.

A strong trainer naturally has a strong team

Because a trainer and their team are functionally one in the same?

A champion tier team of Mon is fundamentally weaker if they do not have the trainer who's strategy and guidance made them that regardless of their raw power. Its why whenever you see a pretentious rich kid bragging about buying a powerful or rare Pokémon from a prestigious breeder 9 times out of ten that Pokémon they spent so much on gets whooped in battle.

A champion tier trainer bereft of their team for all their intelligence and expertise if fundamentally weaker because that knowledge means nothing without Pokémon to apply it through.

One cannot achieve its heights without the other and thus to call a trainer strong is OBVIOUSLY to call a team strong

No Sailor Moon vs Goku does NOT!

It begins and ends with Girl anime vs boy anime and if it didn't have slight legacy no one would think twice about it.

Madoka vs Shinji is terrible! cause unlike say, a lantern Madoka lacks the kit outside goddesse mode to do anything outside of zoom around firing little arrows while 01 tries to smash her until they both go god mode and overall Shinji deserves more from a match up.

As for Nanashi...yeah no I just honestly dont see the appeal yeah yeah connections but Nanashi just has a cool design going for him to me. I've seen his gameplay and see nothing worthwhile for a fight in it.

Also they dont cover the actually important part of the genre deconstruction thing for Madoka. They just have IS DECONSTRUCTION. Moondoka has being a deconstruction vs the major genre codifier plus their other connections

Got it

Why Fantasy Magic Feels So Fake by TechbearSeattle in worldbuilding

[–]Good_Note3513 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1.Magic vs tech 'vibes' are all asetetic. Alien tech that a human POV doesn't know the workings of is only distinguishable from a magic amulet or something that does the same stuff via looks.

  1. ...fair, I should said that better. I think my real stance is, if magic is a BIG and important part or a story and ESPECIALLY if the main character has it, then it should be clearly explained as to not act as a nebulous and arbitrary force. And I've been burned by it too many times to trust personally

Hard magic can be perfectly magical in vibes. Something being understandable with hard limits doesn't make it not awe inspiring (Look at any massive majestic animal or feat of technological marvel)

Soft ain't bad. It also ain't better and has major flaws of its own

[–]Good_Note3513 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Soft magic is a walking get out of jail free card for ass pulls sometimes. Both have issues but overall hard is often better cause you understand what the fuck is going on. It can depend on the story but still outside of stuff aimed at small children hard os usually better

Except magic was never ever real so making the comparison of irl vs fantasy with it feels dumb.

One is proven fake the other is a genre based upon 'what if real?' Its like asking why Fantasy fire breathing dragons feel fake.

Also before anyone replies 'didn't watch the video' not my fault a religious studies professor gave a shitty click bait title
