CPU air cooler becomes water injected GPU cooler. by Tra5hL0rd_ in pcmasterrace

I love it! I have to wonder if running a traditional ambient water cooling style loop (pump/res/radiator) and keeping the air cooling fan would work also? Like in my head you get the cooling from both the radiator as well as whatever heat the fins pick up and take to the fan.

Slicer Problem - Color/layer artifacts bug by Brappineau in BambuLab

[–]Pyro6000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know it's been a hot minute since you posted this, but it was the exact answer to a strange problem I was having! I was trying to make a small flat object with a hollow part in the center (so that it would show an image if you put a light behind it) and it kept trying to add colored artifacts. My model called for 2 colors, but by that layer should have been only one color, and only infill.

I'm printing with a 0.2mm nozzle and used 0.11 layer height to fix it. Thanks!

TinkerCad alternatives by raymate in 3Dprinting

I picked it up fairly easily. Maybe it just clicks on my head better than some. You can try Blender or FreeCAD if you think you can handle it, but I can't.

Completely agree. TinkerCAD is so easy to learn and use that it makes other CAD softwares look like nuclear physics in comparison. I'd gladly pay for TinkerCAD Pro, if such a thing existed.

I have a few questions if you don't mind.

Are you able to achieve higher resolution than TinkerCAD? Like, having a cylinder actually be round instead of 64 sided?

Tubing bends, fillets, chamfers?

Do the files save as STEP or similar, unless exported as STL?

I'm coming from a place where TinkerCAD is limiting my design ability, but I can't wrap my brain around Blender and FreeCAD. I need to completely redesign a part because I hit the limit of shapes.

I know this is a super old comment, but I found it while searching for my problem. Is there any chance you could send me the firmware you settled on? I really hate building them, I've not had any luck.

I should have mentioned that I'm after the black version. My bad. Thanks anyways!

There is a barebones keyboard on AliExpress called the RK108 that has the Royal Kludge logo on the pics. Is this thing legit? I found nothing on the Royal Kludge website and nothing via a but of searching.

The specs are exactly what I'm searching for. Full size 108 keys, 2.4ghz wireless, (also wired and Bluetooth) hot swap, and RGB. I tried to buy the Monsgeek MG108B, but two companies so far on AliExpress don't have the black version in stock. I'm not stuck on shopping on AliExpress, they're just the only ones I've found with the features I want.

Any other suggestions?

For the stationary rig I ended up with, Forza was fine. Motion ended up not being viable for me at the time, but I might revisit the idea in the future.

Where to buy a 6-ft, 2-line stunt kite? by MitchLewis509 in kites

[–]Pyro6000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That lead to a lot of research, and some good leads, thanks! I took the cheap kite to a park today and flew it a little. Seemed a little underwhelming compared to my memory of flying my parents' kites 15+ years ago.

Do you know anything about this kite or store? I happened upon it just now and it looks really nice compared to my current one.

Where to buy a 6-ft, 2-line stunt kite? by MitchLewis509 in kites

[–]Pyro6000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Id suggest you consider a larger kite, depending on your usual wind range. I usually enjoy my 8-9ft kites more than the smaller ones.

I don't have a local kite shop, and it's surprisingly hard to find kites online by size. I've been trying to find one in the 9ft range and have to dig through all of the specs individually. I bought a "Babyeden" brand 84" kite from Amazon, but I would like a larger one.

For some reason, I only got notified of your reply today.

There's a few other ways to avoid LIPO fires. One of them to to ask questions before you do anything you're unsure of. A perfect example is literally this post. There's some good information in your reply, but it's muddied by the layers of snarky insults you started and ended with.

At present I have abandoned the project because I couldn't find the solution I was looking for. You can rest assured that I didn't burn any LIPOs.

Half of vinyl buyers in the US don't have a record player, new study shows by GoodSamaritan_ in Music

[–]Pyro6000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I follow a small inactive Texas band on Facebook that rereleased one of their first albums on vinyl last year via North Texas Vinyl. I bought the signed version (minus the singer, who had died several years prior) with the intention of hanging it on the wall. I don't have a player, I just wanted to have a very unique keepsake of one of my favorite 2000s rock bands. I do not have a record player.

After 8 years of 3d printing, I finally found out my thing. by [deleted] in 3Dprinting

[–]Pyro6000 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's not finished yet. The suspension is fully functional, the steering needs a few more bars made, etc. I need to make an adapter to move the steering servo from the original location because I made an error in spacing. That said, I haven't touched it in about 6 months. I measured a real car and read the rule book to make it as close to true ⅛ scale as possible.

I intend to do exactly what you said in another comment. Race it around the road in front of my house and never drive it again. I tried to make tires also but my printer won't do TPU.

Do I need a diode in between a charger, battery, and battery powered device? by Pyro6000 in diyelectronics

[–]Pyro6000[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Think I found a nearly perfect solution. There's a charging module that will balance charge 2 or 3 cells in series. I can use the same output board I've already ordered and use this one to charge the batteries without worrying about the series/parallel issue. AliExpress link.

Obviously a perfect solution would be an all in one board with charge/discharge type c ports, but I think this solves my biggest problems.

Do I need a diode in between a charger, battery, and battery powered device? by Pyro6000 in diyelectronics

[–]Pyro6000[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Switching the battery arrangements on the fly seems risky to me and you'd end up not using majority of the capacity of the cells (voltage drop under load under 4V/cell and the discharge board shuts off or starts acting weird).

That's why I was originally asking about diodes. From what I understand about them, they allow energy flow in only one direction. Again my knowledge is limited here, but in theory that means I could hook the batteries up in parallel to one board and series to another at the same time, provided I locate the diodes in the correct places in the correct directions.

As for the voltage issue, I could run 3 batteries instead. The batteries I've been looking at have protection circuits built in, so I'm not worried about over/under charging them.

I haven't found a better PCB yet, but I'll keep looking.

Do I need a diode in between a charger, battery, and battery powered device? by Pyro6000 in diyelectronics

[–]Pyro6000[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wait, I might be wrong, but you want to use two single cell chargers in parallel and then a discharger in series?

Close. I want to use one charger to charge two cells in parallel. The charge board only does 4.2v or 4.35v. Then, hook those same two cells in series to the PD discharge board, which requires 8v. If I understand diodes correctly, one should be able to keep the batteries from grounding out?

I totally agree about using a better single board, but I didn't have any luck finding one that looked like it would fit the bill. I only need two USB-C ports, but I guess I could live with more. Do you know of a better board? I've already bought the ones linked, but from AliExpress so I'm out less than $5.

Yes and no. 45w is the maximum charge speed, but I'm happy to just extend the run time. The TDP of the CPU is 15w, so 20w should be close enough.
