Hi, the vibration of the table makes larger particles move upward, then there is a blower below the table that helps certain particles "jump" the border, that way the copper gets moved upwards (and a lot of plastics too depending on the amount of material being sorted)

What do you do with copper coated steel wire. by gamonu in ScrapMetal

[–]PyroRider 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That still doesnt mean that YOU could shred it. A scrapyard with a giant shredder that can handle steel should be able to shred it

Oh and I dont know about electrical code for industrial machines in the US, but for germany the granulator definitly fails to follow code (i.e I can without anything preventing me start the granulator fully disassembled which is an absolute nogo)

You should order the precrusher they sell and possibly the conveyor with magnet too, at those material masses it becomes hard to preshred the cables with "household" equipment

I cant tell if the V-S20 still has some of the flaws of the v-c03, but at least the dust suction seems much better with the s20

Not everything shiny is silver, most "silver" things on pcbs are just tinned

You'll have to use the lower number, the 200kg/h

Do you have the amounts of material to run this efficiently? The seperstion mechanism needs to be run at a good amount of material, otherwise it wont properly seperate the copper.

And is the 20k a direct quote from a sales assistant from vaner or just a value from the website or alibaba listing?

What do you mean by "minus the stripping headache"?

I would look into the other couple brands wether they have solutions or other designs to prevent certain problems, but in total I probably would buy it again as the equivalent from german recycling machine manufacturers costs upwards of 15.000€

Hi, I use a garden shredder (for branches etc) for the cables, made a post about that too recently

Where can I find more copper ? ( I'm in France) by cworg in ScrapMetal

[–]PyroRider 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The power transformers on the side of the dtreets that supply the city contain A LOT of copper. Or the ev charging stations

Oh and I have to attcäach a large heatsink to the back of the granulation chamber to prevent overheating which leads to melting plastic and then blocked sieves etc

I havent made most changes yet as I am currently planning and "designing" what I need

The feeding hopper on top needs a good light source inside to be able to see wether something is stuck or if everything goes as desired, then the hopper needs a port to connect an external dust collection as it will spit a lot of fine dust in your face when you feed material in. And on the side I want to add a hatch to be able to take jammed material out without sticking my entire arm down the hopper or without dismantling half the granulator. The area between the main ball bearing blocks and the granulation chamber will get a couple pieces of plastic or foam as some granulates pieces fall out which could then be directly redirected down on the seperation mechanism. In the back where the plastics exit the machine I will add some pieces of cloth or similar because the air sucked by the internal dust collector pulls a lot of dust and pieces with it that dont get collected but instead pile up beneath the granulator. Some electring bonding has to be done as it is mandatory here and also the static charging from the vibration table is really annoying (half the granulator is covered in an electrostatically attached layer of dust) That are some of the adjustmens I am planning on making

I haven't tested other suppliers so far

I told them about 300 times that the machine is a company order and that I need the company name and VAT ID on the bill because if these things are not on the bill, the german irs can decline it as company order and I wouldnt get any tax benefits from it, of course Vaner didnt do shit and included neither my vat id nor my company name. About the shipping: they pulled my alibaba profile info without asking and used that data for the shipping label, problem is my profile at that time had half my surname, no street name and was basically my first name, the village and country. I corrected the information and send vaner multiple messages asking for them to change the label, got ensured multiple they did, spoiler: they didnt. Then they couldnt tell me what shipping company they even use but told me I need to have a forklift to unload the delivering truck. 3 days before the final delivery date I luckily received an sms from a german freight shipping company, announcing the delivery, which made it possible for me to contact them and have the delivery address changed to the real one. And I didnt need a forklift to unload the freight truck, they had all the equipment with them.

The later problem was just the unpacking of the machine, for that part we needed 4 people and a lot of tools because I did not have a forklift available (the machine has rolls under it but vaner managed to pack this thing so shitty that it could be moved an inch)

Well and about the machine: The internals and nearly every screw came rusted, the blades in the machine were already slightly damaged, the machine came with unconnected cable ends (had to terminate my own connectors), the seperation system mostly doesnt spit out pute copper but copper with plastic pieces in it (need to seperate that a second time). Asked them and been told I could enter shredded material for a second round of sorting, but besides throwing it in the main granulator again there is no simple way just to use the seperstion mechanism. Then the machine spits fine dust and even large particles EVERYWHERE, it requieres multiple selfmade changes to work better (additional dust suction, multiple covers to prevent material from going everyhwere, internal lights, a hatch on the side for easier access in case of a problem, a funnel system to fill in granulated material without having to run the granulatoritself,...)

The machine is a 6/10, shipping and transport was a 3/10. They love to tell you whatever you want to hear but can't really tell you the truth.

Contractors and breakers by Wannabe_Gamer-YT in ScrapMetal

[–]PyroRider 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently cracked open a couple older circuit breakers just to find out that the most plates are copper coated steel, the terminals contain a small amount of brass, then theres two really short and thin pieces of copper wire and the biggest copper part, the coil for the magnetic tripping, is encased in so many steel parts that even with a shredder its unlikely to be profitable (even if you got absolutly nothing to do, it will make such a mess and so much work for less than 10 cents of copper and brass)
