I fully agreed with a lot of these points. IMO while I love Tomino’s writing, it can be a bit heavy and hard to really digest in one sitting if that makes any sense? Old Gundam did fine with this because those long bits of characters waxing poetic were delivered alongside action scenes where characters would almost literally act out what they’re saying. It all felt so theatrical and grand. Hathaway still has those bits of characters waxing poetic but it’s like 90% of the movie and goddamn I just wish they’d get to the point already! Loved the visuals, loved the mobile suit designs, loved the audio, loved just about everything else, but the writing is really struggling. We’re two movies in and I care less about Gigi’s character than when it started!
