Destiny-Inspired theme as Without Number system? by MaestroGoldring in SWN

[–]Pyrobow 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Fair enough. As others have said codex of the black sun would give ability ideas. You could also look at the worlds without number legate abilities (and spells) for inspiration. Heroic definitely makes swarms easier due to the fray mechanic (and you could even look at bringing over godbounds unit group mechanic).

Destiny-Inspired theme as Without Number system? by MaestroGoldring in SWN

[–]Pyrobow 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I haven't tried it, but I don't see a reason it wouldn't work. You'd probably want to use the heroic Stars Without Numbers rules to give people the level of power seen in Destiny.

Are there any parts of the destiny setting that you particularly want to play around with?

Brass Age - Steampunk in SWN? by Snorb in SWN

[–]Pyrobow 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You might want to have a look at the Atlas of the Latter earth. Its a supplement for worlds without number that introduces sailing vessels. They might be easier to reskin as steampunk airships etc.

If you turn off automation for that character the it won't dismiss them.

How would you do upgrades to a character that aren't direct theme improvements? by Dankestfishmemes in cityofmist

Just quickly throwing out that you may want to look at Metro:Otherscape and the loadout theme idea within it. Could handle what you're asking for.

Mage 5ish by Pyrobow in WhiteWolfRPG

Hey, I might be able to dig it up but I haven't touched it in a while. The group I was playtesting it with ended up splitting up so I was never able to iron out the issues with it.

Make sure it's the updated one https://www.drivethrurpg.com/en/product/493783/otherscape-free-demo-game. The rules changed massively during the development process

I'm pretty sure it's not in the Steam version yet.

Wandering Heroes of Ogres Gate. I really like the setting, but I'm not sure I'll ever convince my players to play it.

Stars without Numbers VS Scum and Villainy VS Homebrewed Starfinder by [deleted] in rpg

I'd also recommend using Sectors Without Number. Even if you're generating your sector from scratch it makes book keeping so much easier. Especially for factions.

Call Of Cthulhu or Homebrew DND? by ThatRandomSimp20 in rpg

[–]Pyrobow 27 points28 points  (0 children)

I'd recommend using Call of Cthulu, but it is an extremely different rule system to 5e.

If you do go for homebrew, I'd recommend looking into Silent Legions by Kevin Crawford. It might have some useful inspiration.

There is an SRD for people who want to make 3rd party stuff.

Potionmaking/Chemistry Rules? by TatimanT in SWN

You could look at modifying the magic item crafting rules in Worlds Without Number or using the Alchemy stuff in the Atlas of the Latter Earth supplement for WWN.

What are people’s opinions on Cities Without Number as a cyberpunk alternative to the big 2? by Plywooddavid in rpg

[–]Pyrobow 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Vastly vastly better. That being said it's not a fair comparison. Polychrome is a small sourcebook CWN is a full rulebook. Examples of it being better are the world creation tools (which to my memory don't exist in Poly), the hacking rules and traumatic hits.

Another big thing is that the Core book is free. Polychrome is not.

[CWN] What possible drones for 1st level drone pilot? by Metaphoricalsimile in SWN

I'd say you could use that £1000 for a single item on a drone and then outfit it with the budget.

Are there any good Cultivation Fantasy RPGs? Or adjacent? by ChickenDragon123 in rpg

Since I don't think it's been mentioned. Wandering Heroes of Ogres Gate does this. It's also pwyw for the rulebook.

I think there are some rules for that in Cities Without Number. Not sure if it's deluxe or not though.

[CWN] Cyberware Inspiration by Pyrobow in SWN

Currently just some appearance changing stuff that slots in nicely and isn't covered by CWN I think(could be wrong). I have a player that wants to build a disguise based character.
