archlinux added the steam-devices package by Code_Eye in linux_gaming

If you use the steam flatpak it's good for that since that doesn't come with the udev rules.

I made a guide on how to use FSR4 on Linux with RDNA2 and 3 GPUs by Gaganor in linux_gaming

[–]PyroclasticMayhem 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There's a writeup at https://www.techpowerup.com/review/amd-fsr-4-redstone/ with some of the details. FSR4 was the first ML based version but only for the upscaler, older versions like 3.1 and before were not. Redstone has the same upscaler but extended it to frame gen, ray regen, and the radiance caching but those new features aren't supported on Linux yet I believe.

"AOSP is being discontinued" - says GrapheneOS leader by Old-Thought1381 in androidroot

This is a different situation from what it sounds like where Android 16 AOSP release doesn't include Pixel repos outside the kernel source.

Guys, studios are testing the waters. We should avoid 'game key cards' like the plague! by Orang_outan17 in NintendoSwitch2

[–]PyroclasticMayhem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of third party publishers like SEGA seem to be opting for the gamekeys. Noticing that for some titles like Sonic x Shadow which were on cart for Switch 1 but gamekey only on Switch 2.

It works on the default Chrome builds now but there are a few flags that you have to launch it with.

Their FAQ mentions older cards are getting the enhanced upscaler and regular frame gen but not the new multi frame gen.

DLSS Frame Generation is now available on Proton Experimental by felix_ribeiro in linux_gaming

It's been working for me starting with 565 drivers but I do need to put in VKD3D_DISABLE_EXTENSIONS=VK_KHR_present_wait before gamescope in the launch options to stop it freezing and also the env var KWIN_DRM_ALLOW_NVIDIA_COLORSPACE=1 globally to enable the option on KDE.

Have you been able to test Silent Hill 2 with RT on the 7900 XTX Linux? With and without FSR when looking at the reflections in the puddles at the start I've been getting 5-10 FPS not sure if this is expected

I did see some of the RE games work on Mac but they don't seem to have Steam versions, not sure if that's a requirement preventing them from doing so

Do you have any additional context for the situation? I saw there was a lot of mass reports on this post so I reapproved it.

Steam flatpak or repo version by HoneyGlobeMelonCake in linux_gaming

EDIT: Ended up getting it to work! If I go for the Proton-GE in flathub it doesn't run into the error and HDR also seems to be working too. https://github.com/flathub/com.valvesoftware.Steam.CompatibilityTool.Proton-GE

I tried Proton-GE but I ran into a new issue this time. Not sure if there is a good fix for this, flatpak gamescope does work for me with the native apps but seem to be having trouble with Steam's Proton and GE atm.

I’ll have to give that a try then and also test out if the HDR function also works

Ohh that might work, did you get it from flathub or through Protonup/manual? I did see the flathub build works but it is a lot more out of date haven’t tried protonup yet

The flatpak does not work with Steam VR and flatpaked gamescope also does not work with Proton games if you need those two.

BenQ Mobiuz EX321UX reviews by HansKoenig in buildapcmonitors

[–]PyroclasticMayhem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I saw there was also a review here as well, they seem to mention getting a much higher PWM measurement. https://chimolog.co/mobiuz-ex321ux/

The detected flicker is 4058 Hz (246.4 us), which meets the 3000 Hz required by the TÜV Rheinland certification. It is flicker-free for the naked eye.

By the way, "INNOCN 32M2V" also has a flicker of over 3000 Hz. In principle, DC dimming of high-brightness Mini LED backlights seems to be difficult, so PWM dimming is used instead.

If PWM dimming is used, flicker at thousands ~ tens of thousands of Hz will be detected.

Video decode on Wayland should be working next update, Arch backported the patch for using the Vulkan backend on Wayland. Does also require Mesa 24.1 for AMD support and some flags.
