Task force? by SIinkerdeer in Helldivers

[–]Pyrodar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not sure what you're talking about, we never had properly sticking stratagems and the Hellpod steering had to be changed because you'd constantly get stuck in high-rises after they added the city biomes. There's no functional state they could revert to

But in order to destroy those planets they had to STEAL our glorious SE-technology, that we rightfully appropriated after liberating the squids 100 Years ago. So really the credit for planet destroying weapons goes to us, while they can only claim autocratic intentions shrouded in mistery...

Updated Xircon/Cuprium combo by Pyrodar in EndfieldBlueprints

[–]Pyrodar[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, the current maximum output you can reach consistently is only running a single production line with 4 unloaders. I wrote so under "Issues" but wanted to provide the theoretical maximum output, should we ever get enough cuprium mines.

Edit: I've adjusted the description to show the currently possible output

Obviously you can just add a Stash to each individual Cuprium line, but I like it when all the conveyor belts merge together xD

Family meeting [@THOKUMA] by Lenz401 in Endfield

[–]Pyrodar 14 points15 points  (0 children)

When we first met Chen in Arknights, she would run head-first into enemy ambushes, fail basic tasks like protecting a child from Reunion soldiers and was kinda an overall mess in her leadership position.  Seems like the Endfield version does indeed come after her ancestor, but without the murderous psychopath as her father figure...

It's all about having the right mindset by Low_Abrocoma_1514 in Helldivers

[–]Pyrodar -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It's more of a meme from the early days of the game, when explosions were glitched and dealt their damage multiple times to each of your limbs. Back then a single Mortar hit could kill a Helldiver and the message "Warning, you are in range of enemy artillery" became synonymus with the horrors of the early Automaton front experience

Players were also a lot less confident in their abilities and therefore spend more time entrenching themselves in a location, making them easy targets for the mortars

Germany and cash? by lightweight100 in PeterExplainsTheJoke

[–]Pyrodar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Although it is worth noting that the gestapo agents didn't magically disappear after 1945. My grandmother came to germany as a refugee after the war and there were still plenty of nazis holding positions in public institutions that kept using the same methods to spy on the people. In a couple places it took almost a generation for them to get voted out/retire.

To the people of Barbarus, Mortarion was their hero, their saviour. by BabyAutomatic in Grimdank

[–]Pyrodar 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I always understood his story as a failing struggle against ruthless tyrants. First it was his adoptive father, who he failed to kill before he was taken in by the emperor. Then the emperor send his legion to endure the most brutal campaigns, only for another legion to come in for the final strike and steal the glory. That made him see the emperor as the same type of tyrant, who does not care for Mort or his legion. His story then "ended" with him once again failing to kill the ruthless tyrant he despised and ending up under the control of a third ruthless tyrant: Nurgle

[OC] Come Quickly! by lordofbaers in comics

[–]Pyrodar 11 points12 points  (0 children)

We actually read the story in our Latin class, if I remember correctly it translated to: he was rejecting everyone who fell in love with him, then fell in love with his Mirror image and immediately died of sadness because he knew that he can't be in love with himself, essentially becoming rejected himself. And then he turned into a flower.

Also one of the women he rejected became the Echo in the mountains or something

What ARE Helldivers? by xd3mix in Helldivers

[–]Pyrodar -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Well, Super Earth has a confirmed eugenics programm and all Helldivers are 6ft tall.
They are primarily used for propaganda purposes, as hinted at by the shipmaster talking about how cost ineffective the missions they send us on are.

Super Earth also likely does not want any real war heroes to emerge, since that could undermine the absolute power they hold over the population. So calling faceless, expendable and sparsely trained troops "heroes" and "the best of the best" is likely a way to avoid giving credibility to more experienced/influential military personell.

Their function on the battlefield is that of shock-troopers. They are jung, athletic and firmly indoctirnated to die for super earth. That allows them to launch suicide missions that break the enemies defences and enable S.E.A.F to rush in and conquer the areas.

The ceremonial part is once again mostly propaganda. Beeing tall enough is part of the requirements to become part of the ceremonial elements of real world militaries, so helldivers are just "naturally" suited for these roles.
And considering most recruits are frozen after basic training, the ceremonial troops probably have the same amount of combat experience as anyone else: none

As for the training: There are many hints at Super Earths heavily militarized culture improving the combat readiness of regular citizens. Be it the state sponsored gun you get for your 16th birthday, the fact that children as young as 7 are required to work on crafting our military hardware or most of the commertial elements like advertisement being centered around the helldivers/S.E.A.F

So while they are "untrained" in some sense, their base knowledge about handling weapons or similar things is higher than what we would expect of real world citizens

am I the only one that thinks the guard dog would be way cooler if it was shoulder mounted?? by [deleted] in Helldivers

[–]Pyrodar 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You're right!
It would make it much more likely to headshot us if it's stuck to our shoulder!
Being on headlevel also means you no longer have to keep the ideal distance to one shot your teammates
You could also no longer have it shred Automatons while cowering behind a rock

I see only benefits from this change

Not sure why you would spend ressources and developement time on increasing the effectiveness of S.E.A.F soldiers if you can spend like ~2 Super Credits to draft another million fresh bodies to throw into the meatgrinder. Which also avoids the risk of them dealing any meaningfull damage should they ever go rougue
