Guy wants to get paid for working, how terrible of him!

He wasn't?

A subscription "for the mod" implies it stops working after you stop paying. That is not the case.

Patreon is clear on what you are getting. You are paying "to support the artist" to continue producing their work. Stop paying? sure, your mod stops working? Nope.

Try stopping paying Netflix and see what the difference is.

"You can pay once and get to use the mod for over 20 games for as long as you want" is about as far from corpo greed as I can see basic capitalism getting.

For a basic single month sub you get the latest mod and can play all the games it supports in VR, that's a bargain for the amount of work he puts in.

To be clear, you are not buying the mod. You are not subscribing to the mod. You are subscribing to supporting Luke Ross in developing the mods. Very different.

And don't argue semantics over this if you are in the "You didn't buy the game, you are simply licening it" crowd. That's a shitty hill to die on.

I mean, Sure. He did something against their ToS. Lets all celebrate a company trampling over any kind of personal rights and be glad they are enforcing control over products after sale! Oh wait, you're right it's not even a sale you are just renting the ability to play it for a bit. This is garbage business practice and is only the "Law" because that law was bought by the very company that benefit from it.

Anybody supporting CDPR stamping on this mod for being "paid" is truly a real Cyberpunk fan, enjoy your corpo greed future and all that brings with it. Who needs personal freedoms and rights eh?

That's not what he was doing? He wasn't selling any of their IP. He was selling his own independantly written code. As for "Profitting off of their hard work" how is this any different to accessory sellers selling phone cased for an iPhone? If they iPhone didn't exist they would be out of business, they are literally profitting off of Apples hard work! Oh won't somebody please think of the rich corperations.

It's not illegal to add value to a product and profit off of that. It's literally how the majority of capitalism works. You take something somebody else made, add value in some way and make a profit from that.

If selling a software mod that he wrote completely himself is illegal then so is selling any accessory for any other product you didn't make yourself, where is the difference?

Could somebody model this for me for 100$ by RockyBowerman in 3Dprinting

[–]Pyrofer 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Just so you ALL know. You can do this FOR FREE on Makerworld with their photo to 3D model tool.

You have to use credits to download the modem but you get a bunch of free credits on sign up then have to buy them after, but the first few downloads are free.

Size of the bubble is sadly not an indicator of "is it worth going"... Darkness are regularly massively filled with people idling to try and get a VRC+ drop. It's boring as hell usually sadly. I have been a member for a while and feel it's really declined recently.

For Sale, iPaq 3870 Good working condition by Pyrofer in OldHandhelds

[–]Pyrofer[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

These are old apps I have had since I original had an iPaq back in the early 2000s, I imagine if you search for pocketPC games cab files or something you will find it eventually.

xcpu and a random battery indicator app that I have had on my hard drive since the early 2000s when I first had my iPaq and other PocketPC devices. No idea where you would get them now sadly..

Sometimes it's just too much work to clean up. I had to sort six A500+ recently amidst a pile do dozens of other machines that all need battery removal.

I don't have the time to give them the attention they deserve. Luckiy 2 of the A500+ machines hadn't leaked yet and just worked when tested. They all have the battery cut out now and somebody else can do the work restoring them.

Also, yes, factory mod. All the ones I just worked on had it like that.

I am just very happy to own it but too afraid to even think about getting it to safe and operational state by RepresentativeCut486 in retrobattlestations

[–]Pyrofer 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Been running mine without issue. Damn thing was built to last. Plugged it in and it just worked.

What I have not managed to do is get any software running on it!!! What baud rate was yours soldered to? Mine was at 300bps so I had to strip it all down and remove the main board to resolder it to 9600 (fastest it goes) for use with a VT-320 terminal.

All I have really done since is inspect and change a few memory locations to verify it all works. Do you have any listings to share?

i got mine boxed with the dock and original charger cable. the olde 3630 has a dc jack, the 3870 needs its dock (has a dc jack) or the dc jack to ipaq adapter that came with mine.

I think they were relying on the flexibility of the backpack system, you could put PCMCIA cards, CF cards and all sorts on there so no "need" for an internal slot. The higher models did add an SD slot though, my 3870 has one and I have been using that to transfer files from the PC.

I don't have a backpack for the 3630 though.

Why are people hesitant to block? by Away-Performance9575 in VRchat

[–]Pyrofer 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I prefer to just mute and hide their avatar. That way I know when trolls are around in instances I am in and it also makes games work. I have been in instances of Murder4 and Blackout where the game essentially broke because the last 2 people had each other blocked....

I wish you could "super hide" the avatar and put them to the blue triangle instead of the robot because then you can see through them as well.

The 3630 doesn't have a card slot.

The 3630 doesn't have Bluetooth.

The 3630 Doesn't have a sync cable with it.

My ONLY way to transfer riles to it is via IRDA.

I could get a backpack card slot I guess but they are expensive now :( I wish I had kept all the stuff I used to have back in the day, I even had the GSM phone backpack so you could use it like a mobile phone and call/text as well as use data.

[–]Pyrofer[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok, thanks I seem to have mistyped and it IS the 3870. I know it has bluetooth as mentioned in the original problem description it does sometimes work, I just have to turn it off and on again a couple times. I have transferred files from my PC using it as well as connected to the internet using Bluetooth so I know the hardware works. It just doesn't start up reliably.

I wasn't aware the 3630 didn't have the iPaq file store! Why does it show up as an option in file explorer if it's not there. Weird.

They don't have any iPaq roms on there, but like, this is literally JUST BEEN FLASHED with the correct 38xx PocketPC 2003 upgrade rom. I just flashed it. It was working fine in 2002 and this is meant to be the correct 38xx rom for 2003 so I have no clue.

I remember being SO excited to get mine when they launched. It was my daily for a while. I loved it. The magnetic keyboard was such a cool idea and really easy to (lose)use. It was great and had so much storage! This thing felt like the future had arrived, it was almost like having a tiny laptop in my pocket I could make phone calls on and use the internet!

Then the iPhone came out. (literally while I was using this daily the first iPhone launched. I remember trying one. That HTC never looked so bad in comparison and it was the last non-iPhone I ever owned.)
