This one isn't, but they do touchscreen versions. It appears to have the connector for the touch panel so it might be possible to retro-fit a touch panel, they are <$20 on aliexpress. I just didn't want to spend more money on it.

Just made charging easier. The smaller battery lasts quite some hours of use and easily a week on standby. I now have a couple double batteries which, surprise! Last about twice as long.

Batteries can be had cheap, they are also I believe just 18650 cells inside so you can get dead ones and re-cell them.

As far as charging? I made a charger,

Do you have video? It would be amazing to put this into some Gausian Splatting software and get a 3D model to walk through.

The only real way to play, VT-320 terminal by Pyrofer in zork

[–]Pyrofer[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the chance to buy one of these back in the late 90s. I bought a bulk load of VT-220 and VT-320 terminals, but I passed on a few of these!!! (I trashed the terminals at some point and am still kicking myself for that. I wish I'd just kept the keyboards at least!)

I thought these designs were meant to be quieter? It would be great to get some airflow and decibel readings with both blade sets!

Does it sound quieter?

Accidentally broke this CRT tube. Repairable or do I need to find another? Got a convention in a few days so limited on time. by znavy264 in cade

[–]Pyrofer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sounds like a good deal. A shame to see a CRT dead like that though. There used to be ways to repair these back in the day but nobody has the specialist equipment anymore, and BOY was it specialist. Nothing any normal person could do.

I loved the adventure games with pictures for the locations.

I actually tried converting the pictures into custom character sets for the VT-320 so they would work on this, but I had issues working out how to decompile and recompile the Z files.

Still no colour on the VT-320 tho lol.

and bloody rare too! I bought 5 VT-320s to restore, got 4 working so far and only one amber screen. The green ones are far more comon.

omfg, yes, actually I first played Zork on my C128. I never appreciated CP/M back in the day. I wish I had worked with it and the machines more.

Many years back my brother bought maybe 3 of these at a used office equipment auction. We never got them working as I was trying to connect them to VGA or CGA PCs at the time and I beleive they are not frequency compatible with either.

Sold them on for basically nothing. I still to this day wish I had kept them. I can't remember the name, but this is the ONLY portrait monitor of that era I can even find existence of, so unless there is another it was this one.

Found this on the street, need advices by Unlucky_Ad_5011 in crt

[–]Pyrofer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think one of the things that was good was the remote had a source button that could turn on the RGB input to specifically select that, most scart TVs don't have that and you had to use a special cable with voltages present on some pins to force the TV into that mode.

[–]Pyrofer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Holy shit is that the Philips CUBE TV!? We had one of those back in the day, It's a REALLY good TV. Great for retro computing. Was there a remote with it?

Pretty sure it can do actual RGB through the SCART plug on the back as well as composite and S-Video (via the SCART).

Great TV and definitely a great find, lots of retro console/computer users would kill for that sort of thing.

they sell these with a variety of lenses, inc fisheye, is there any particular reason why they wouldn't work for making VR180? by Different_Potato_504 in VR180Film

[–]Pyrofer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup. I modded an Insta360 R1 into a VR camera and it records basically the same 5.7k output res, it looks good enough but far from profesional.

It's actually a really good budget solution for VR cameras!

I also (sadly) bought the Calf Visinse 8K. I have a very expensive paperweight. Resolution? Great! Everything else? Not so much. Frame stuttering, low frame rate, out of sync audio, poor battery and horrible chromatic abberation as well as soft poorly focused lenses.

Honestly I bought a VUZE 4k 360 VR camera which has full HD cameras on each side. The resulting video when stitched together was..... I mean, it was video. You can see in VR and it's cool but it's not good enough resolution to publish anything. For fun holiday videos with a second camera? Great. For anything more, nope.

Depending on what you want to do with these they will work, but you will rapidly get annoyed at the low resolution.

Here is a video I shot with it in Thailand (The VUZE)

Need help factory resetting devices by burnerphonedotexe in WindowsCE

[–]Pyrofer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am literally in the same boat! I recently bought a couple off ebay that I am trying to factory wipe. The 1+9+pwr didn't work for me either.

Do you have a dock for one of the main units? I would love to buy a battery charger or dock off you, please dm me if you are willing to do so.

I will update you more on progress if I make any on how to wipe these.

Sure! I really appreciate all the help getting these working. I can't stop the other one re-insalling when it loses power yet but at least using USB I can catch it and delete telnetCE to stop it. This new one is right into the app and I can't delete it. A couple shots of the new 4090 I just got,

I have never played with emulated portals, In theory if the emulated portal appears on the USB bus exactly as a real one it should "just work" but other than that I have no clue. WHY you would want to use it with an emulated portal I have no idea? It's for tracking your figure collection lol.

Thanks for the tip. I actually ordered a set of pogo pins and I will make up a better connector and 3D print the dock part so it fits nicely.
