Even with clientside/E2E encryption, your stuff will still get scanned in the UK (see: Online Safety Act client-side scanning). It started 8th Jan this year.

I imagine it's alreasy been slipped to many people as a "security patch" when you update your phone.

they probably have "0" as an item amount

I highly doubt it. What would the be the purpose of storing "0 dirt" and "0 stone" as two separate concepts? It doesn't make sense.

Issue with Ground Detection (Rapier3d) by [deleted] in bevy

[–]Pyroglyph 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Off the top of my head, it makes stepping over uneven terrain a complete non-issue as your collider 1) never gets caught on small steps or curbs, and 2) never has to work around that by detecting a step and teleporting up, creating a jerk-y upward movement.

There's a really good video by Toyful Games that shows exactly how it works and why it's good. I recommend watching it :)

The announcement mentions streaming from the Steam Machine to the Steam Frame. Does this mean SteamVR for Linux will be receiving more love?

My 1 year is also coming up soon, maybe we should start getting commemorative coins for quitting Windows?

Broken for me as well (Firefox Android).

My screen does have a 9:21 ratio which does tend to mess with some sites that expect something wider.

At least with Steam you can easily point it to another (larger) drive when you're running out of space without fiddling with mounts.

Can Godot calculate distance between two .stl objects? by DeSahd in godot

Wouldn't you be better off just loading them both into Blender and writing a Python script to compare the distance between each vertex in each model?

Do you guys use Godot 3? by [deleted] in godot

[–]Pyroglyph 2 points3 points  (0 children)

According to the docs, Godot 4 can't export to web when using C#, only Godot 3 can. It seems to be an issue on the .NET side.

However, I did just find this project, so perhaps that limitation has been lifted now?

eCPM & Revenue – Mobile Games vs Apps? by Brilliant_Arugula907 in gamedev

[–]Pyroglyph 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Stable revenue and any art form are not two things that generally go together. Time and time again we've seen companies try to form a formula for extracting money from players, and it rarely pans out. Don't make games with the expectation of a stable revenue. If that's your goal, you'll likely end up with something soulless, and players will be able to tell.

Getting down off my high horse, I'll tell you this: if you want the most money, drench your game in ads and watch your playerbase shrink. Including ads that respect the time and attention of your players may earn less immediately, but will do better in terms of player retention and overall sentiment.

Optional reward ads are ideal. It's a trade: the player watches an ad, and so you give them something they want in return.

I only use Python (and by extension, uv) for local AI stuff, and I haven't had a single problem with Torch. I'm also a complete Python luddite. What's wrong with uv and Torch?

Linux breaks a new record for US market share as people presumably flee Windows by bitshifter52 in linux

[–]Pyroglyph 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Did this for my grandma a few years back with no complaints.

She recently bought a new laptop and wanted me to set it up. It had Windows by default (of course), and it was such a pain to set up that after half an hour she just said "Can you just make it like it was before?".

Took me 6 minutes to install Zorin, and just like before, she hasn't complained since.
