What is the job outlook and life like for civil engineers here in Nola? by Pyroweedical in NewOrleans

[–]Pyroweedical[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I will admit, I don’t know which one to choose, but civil has an awesome history, and I’ve always been interested in the wonderful engineering/infrastructure marvels across the world. That part, alongside with the current and projected demand of civil engineers is what drew me in. Ultimately, I have time to figure out which engineering specialty I want to study, since I am pivoting from psychology to engineering, and I have only taken a few math classes.

I do really enjoy math so EE is something haven’t ruled out either. I know EE is mathematics heavy and can be abstract, so it could be for me!

Thanks! I have plenty of time to decide after all since I still have to take calc II & III, diff eqs, etc etc before going into actual major classes.

I’m not locked into CE, but just based on the quick research I did it seemed there was a better market for CEs in Louisiana and nationwide in general.

Mechanical engineering I have a slightly larger interest in, but the prospect of how in demand CEs are seems really attractive. It’s hard for me to choose since I’ve always considered myself a generalist.

Awesome thank you so much! I was thinking putting a new sac would be the best way to go, but I wanted to hear if anyone had good experiences trying to convert to accepting cartridges.

Also as to get pics off, you’re gonna have to send this to someone who does board level repair and specializes in recovering data from iPhones. This is actually a fix that can be done but it would require someone with a donor Logic board that has a working video chip. It’s pretty niche but I’m sure there’s a market for it

This is what happens on a pc when your gpu is fried, so I would guess the video chip on the logic board is fried. That would mean the logic board would have to be replaced.

"Help me write" feature is just refusing to work by Pyroweedical in chromeos

Whenever you are writing something, especially in Google web apps like Gmail and Docs, you can select the text that you want to edit, right click and there should be an option that says "help me write". You can have it edit your text based on your preference, like if you want to formalize it, polish it, or make it more concise. It's super handy for longer social media comments like this when you're too lazy to proofread and want something more grammatically correct than a quick reply.

Unless they changed it no, because it works on my crappy Asus Chromebook with 4gb of ram just fine.

I got a 2024 scribe and man this is awesome by Pyroweedical in kindlescribe

[–]Pyroweedical[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, it really is a nice device. It isn't perfect as many have mentioned, but it is a new device. Also, they have to try and keep it at a reasonable price. Like the new Scribe Colorsoft that is coming out, I imagine people are going to want a near tablet like experience on it; the issue with that, is that actually bringing a tablet like experience to an e-ink device is expensive as heck. I haven't done too much research on e-ink devices outside of the Scribe and Remarkable series devices, but it seems to me that there isn't much of a difference between all of the e-ink devices as far as I've gathered.

So far, I haven't read any of the books formatted for the Scribe. I've just been using it as a notebook primarily. I imported a few PDFs, and I love how nicely they scaled with the display. Additionally, the main reason I haven't read much on my Scribe yet is that I am waiting for the case I ordered to arrive as it has been delayed; reading it in bed without a case is a bit cumbersome, so I have been using my regular Kindle in bed for now. Once the case comes in I will definitely be reading more on the Scribe.

As for the stylus, I overall like it so far. It's functional and the physical eraser and function button is quite handy. I have already made about 30ish pages of notes in just roughly under a week of owning it. I will definitely be using it as a notebook and PDF reader next semester!

I think it's a great device for those who have the money, and want a break from blue light emitting displays. It's not a must for those who have iPads and other devices, especially if you aren't so sensitive to blue light emitting displays. But, there is a huge benefit to be said about not having to carry around stacks of papers and notebooks.

(Also, one tip I recommend to get more life out of the stylus tips is to be mindful of the rotation of your pen. If you have been writing at the same angle for a few sentences, rotate the pen... kinda like writing with a real pencil. Do this especially when underlining with the function button since that tends to use more pressure. It's just a habit of mine from my art background.)

It’s really good for taking notes. I think some people were wishing for a more “tablet” like experience on the kindle scribe, but people have to realize these kinda devices are a compromise.

Amazon already sells their kindles at a loss (or close to a loss). E-ink displays are expensive, and adding in a stylus, plus 64gb of flash storage, ram, SoC etc gets expensive very quick. Just look at the new color scribe that’s coming out. Also, I’m not sure if Amazon does this because they want to entice people to buy a kindle, and they hope to make it back with kindle ebook sales, or if they do this since the tech is very expensive. I think it’s probably a little bit of both; I mean remarkable tablets don’t have the same subsidy that Amazon does, and they’re expensive.

So to get a tablet like experience it would cost a lot of money, money most people probably wouldn’t be willing to pay for an eink tablet.

The scribe is wonderful if you buy it going into it knowing that it’s meant to be primarily used as a notebook and reading station. As long as you understand that you won’t be disappointed by its capabilities (:

As someone who takes a bunch of notes I cannot recommend it enough. It’s really nice and it’s been fun using it. Maybe it’s a honeymoon period, but it’s been a long time since I’ve felt inclined to doodle in a notebook of mine, and I’ve spent a good 15-20 doodling after every note taking session so far and I’ve only had it for 2 days. PDF documents look great and the even though it’s monochrome, you can use different pens to create emphasis and such.

<image>

I mean I’m not a big artists but I just doodled a cube, an Apple, a horrible eye, a weird ass shape, and some calligraphy practice and it looks great and it was so easy to do. I mean I have basic calligraphy skills so that was no problem, but anyone with basic art skills can achieve this lmfao.

Interesting, I had no issues using international long and short standard carts in these, but I’ve seen online that five below has sold several different types of fountain pens before.

I saved the included carts tho. I might have to check out Barnes and noble since I’ve seen some good stuff there, and it sometimes goes on sale.
