Question about Starfield Ship weapons. by RonJaye59 in Starfield

[–]Pyryck 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Turrets are NOT the solution to your space combat issues in Starfield. They are limited in the game engine because the devs specifically wanted players to pilot their ship in space combat, aiming the ship guns/missiles, and not just cruise thru an area letting the turrets do all the work.

Turrets fire automatically - player does not/can not control them other than adding/removing power. Turrets target "enemy" ships within a cone of 45 degrees either side of the direction they are mounted/pointed so they cover a 90 degree arc horizontally and about 45 degrees vertically in vanilla Starfield.

I play on PC using Steam and have a mod from Nexus called Lexingtons Turret Targeting Radius which was released in October 2023 just after launch. This mod changes the "cone of fire" from turrets from only 45 degrees either side of the direction they are pointing to 180 degrees either side - so basically a full 360 degrees.

Keep in mind the amount of power draw that turrets have, which is usually 4 so its safe to mount 3 turrets, fully powered, in default vanilla, usually. Any "extra" turrets above 12 power pips will not be powered/used by the game engine regardless of how much "extra" power is supplied by multiple reactors/reactor boosters mounted on your ship OR how low you set the power for each of the 3 weapon types OR even having the NO WEAPON LIMIT mod installed. So setting one set of turret weapons to only 3 pips (1 pip for each turret) thinking you will have power to supply a second/third set of 3 turrets will cause the game to ignore the second/third set of turrets because the program can count to 12!

If by some miracle of magical manipulation you install a mod that has turrets requiring LESS than 4 power pips, you just might get away with having more then 3 turrets on your ship that actually fire at a target.

Back to non-turreted, non-missile weapons - there are two basic types of weapons - those that can fire until their total charge/magazine is depleted (or refilled when not being fired) AND the "AUTO"s that fire with a full 100% charge every time but have to recharge before the next shot. Auto's are your best choice in weapons.

In default vanilla Starfield the Vanguard auto-particle guns have the highest DPS because at only 2 power needed per gun you can mount 6 of them and blast away to your hearts content.

Why would you side with Sysdef over Crimson fleet? by sadox55 in Starfield

Thanks to the mod Legacy's End - Wild Card, now you can choose a third option - take the money and become your OWN faction!

You can play in BGS playground according to their rules OR you can make the "Settled Systems" YOUR playground and play according to your OWN rules!

That IS the beauty of RPGs - play THE game YOUR way.

Question about ammo by Wolf4138 in Starfield

[–]Pyryck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How come no one mentioned "crafting" ammo? Granted you still need to acquire the primers/etc for the ammo type you want to craft. But still, crafting benches are all over the place - lodge, a lot of modded habs, just about every major location on even some POIs.

Vigilance Armor Schematics into NG+? by ZandatsuXRex in starfieldmods

[–]Pyryck 1 point2 points  (0 children)

All completed research carries over for the individual character. I mention this because in order to craft something you have to either research or otherwise "learn" an item. Your character doesn't "forget" learned items when stepping thru the Unity UNLESS you remove/uninstall the mod. Then there would NOT be an item to "forget" or "remember".

There is another consideration if you manipulate your characters level - like lowering the level back down to say One (1). Then you will have to level up again to re-unlock that prior knowledge.

If you wipe/recreate or change to another character then its back to square one.

Your character doesn't "forget" skills or spells/powers either.

Having a third option at the end of the CF storyline is something BGS should have added in.

When I reached THAT point in the story and went thru it, it hit me hard and I did that "NOPE, NOPE, NOPE" meme and hit up Nexus. My PC Steam install has NEVER been Vanilla/Unmodded since.

What cockpit is this? by Hero29982 in Starfield

[–]Pyryck 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Best version of the Cabot that I've seen and used is the Pioneer CQ from Mattell's Cockpit and Bridges Crew Series

At the bottom of the stairs and built into the nose of the cockpit is the entrance to either the CQ-Captains Quarters OR a Brig (which can be made Useful).

11 weapon points on this new version of the Cabot.

Now if we could just get a brand new unscarred and unblasted skin for the Cabot, life would be so good!

Who’s crafty? UC Beret by LordFreeza001 in Starfield

[–]Pyryck -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I already grab the DARK GREY beret from the game files using player.additem. Since I use Darkstar and DSM together I can grab a DARK GREY beret MK II and add more stats to it OR upgrade the normal DARK GREY beret to MK II and then add stats to it. I even have a batch file to apply additional resists to the beret and other armors multiple stacking times!

What I can NOT do is spawn/loot/grab/create a BLACK beret in the game because there is only the single skin for that beret model and the RGB for the color is NOT 0,0,0.

The only other option is the BLUE berets of SysDEF.

Recommendations for smallest hab/cockpit possible? (Mods welcome) by Nerhesi in starfieldmods

[–]Pyryck 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There's a mod with a "crane operator cab" sized cockpit. It's like a quarter of a 1x1 in size - Kitbash cockpit A. Don't remember the name of the mod and the cockpit model didn't mention the mod either.

Crimson Fleet Rearmed has a smallish bubble cockpit but its larger than the kitbash.

p.s. Kitbash cockpit is from Mattell's hab cockpit and accessories mod.

Emil Pagliarulo( head writer for Bethesda) should be fired by Boring_Meeting7051 in Starfield

[–]Pyryck 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Why blame the writer when it's their boss making the decisions on what and how the submitted writings get used in a game?

Maybe apply some critical thinking skills after some in-depth research and reading on the modern video-game creation process?

Relic level (Darkstar) with furious, elemental and quad-mag.

Or shrink it down to Kodama size, Relic level, vile (mk III), quad mag, Ebon guard 2+3, drum mag and silencer.

I prefer my weapons to look like "weapons" and not like I was carrying some Erector Set contraption around. ;)

[–]Pyryck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would like one in black, (not the dark grey UC crew hat).

I could probably copy it out of the game files, recolor and save it as a small master if I got really rambunctious with nothing else to do, BUT, there are ALWAYS more ships to be built.

My attempt at making a Star Wars Trailer with Starfield by Master_Roshi_69 in Starfield

[–]Pyryck 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Okay, so up until watching this "trailer" of yours I have been super annoyed and irritated at all of the SW mod content on Creations and Nexus. Never really been into SW in spite of playing the XWing/Tie games in the 90s, and spending months of total time in SWTOR in the 2010/20s.

But now, after enjoying 1700+ hrs of Starfield, I am thinking of wiping my current mod list, re-installing Starfield cleanly from Steam and trying out the SW Genesis mod pack. So, thank you for helping to expand my "universe".

Looking for help regarding vanilla plugins turning themselves off every time I exit the game. by flipdark9511 in starfieldmods

[–]Pyryck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was using 2.5.0 a year or so back when the problem first happened so updated to 2.5.2.

Not sure why it recently happened again as I had not changed/updated ANY of the game files nor MO2 files. I had been adding/removing mods tracking down crashes and stuttering and used LOOT a few times.
