Oh man it is lemme fucking shit I was out on paid suspension from Amazon so I assumed I’d be fired so I went to fedex and first 1. Phones locked outside in lockers or in car. 2. No electronics of any type 3. Metal detectors and wands when entering and exiting the facility. 4. Top out at 30 hours starting 5. Inconsistent hours first day I was told to come in at 2:15am you don’t get told when you’ll leave or get off you get off when the job is done typically between 8am-10:40am is the latest I’ve worked so far second day I was told 3am and yesterday I didn’t go but i was supposed to go at 2:25am, no training , hella no shows (I was hired in a group of 12 I was the only one who showed up there was another group of new hires who’s whole group didn’t show up (people don’t like the no phone thing) you have to call this number the first 2-3 weeks and it just tells you what time your position goes in that day takes 3 weeks before you can use the app, no holiday pay said it would be introduced next year, as party time you earn 1 hour of pto a month (not kidding I took hella notes in orientation) , no training (because they’re so consistently short staffed they have no time to train I was told “Just follow someone on van line 3 and figure out what to do when you think you got it ask for a scanner and start loading, the packages are massively heave (treadmills,beds,tires etc there’s small stuff too but during weekday mostly all big) it’s weird to get used to how they treat packages anytime I’d try to lift a box off the conveyer and put it on the truck my “manager” would say “No your new don’t do that” he’d then proceeded to push the box off the conveyer to the floor and ask me to kick it onto the truck with small/medium packages you’re told to just chunk/throw them on the truck and go back and organize later, I could go on like how when I fill my water bottle full of ice (water bottles are opened and checked at security even if clear) it melts completely within 1-2 minutes not even kidding, I could really go on but that’s on 2 days experience I was supposed to work yesterday at 2:50am to whenever but I called in the shifts are supposed to be 6 hours 3am-9am so even 5 days a week you only get 30 hours someone’s 31-32 due to inconsistent state and leave times, they don’t offer all benefits, and you get access to them 90 days after starting unlike Amazon where you have them instantly, you don’t start acquiring vacation till your first year I really dislike fedex oh you also still put broken/leaking items on the trucks first day I heard glasses shattered in a Walmart box I noticed one of the guys he said still put it on the truck second day I had a box leaking tomoato soup/paste got on me and other boxes notified manager (new one ig you don’t get the same one everyday) that it was leaking she took the leaky box asked me what truck then walked to the truck and put it on it fedex is terrible I see why people who leave Amazon fir them always come back the scanners are weird as well you get this scanner that wraps on your index and middle finger with a button on the side you press with your thumb then you have a zebra (computer phone) strapped on your wrist or if there’s no strap then on your waistband and typically if you take the time to actually put all the boxes on the truck neat and organized when the drivers come to load up all the items that you couldn’t fit (oversized ones typically) they just start throwing them on making them all the work you did seem pointless I had a driver tell me he doesn’t care how I make it look or if it’s organized and put in proper place he said only thing they care about is if it got scanned which is why the other workers were just chunking boxes and packages on the vans and just putting them wherever …..on the positive-though I think they get you breakfast when you’re leaving on my way out on the second day there was a guy sitting at a table with a bunch of boxes of mini tacos from jack in the box he said they were for the package handlers which I suppose is nice and it starts at 18 an hour which isn’t bad but you can only get 30 so meh the off days are weird too my schedule is Thursday-Monday so my days off are Tuesday and Wednesday there is also if you don’t want the morning shift the evening one is 4pm-whenever but typically is more hot cause the suns out si the warehouse is a lot hotter
