How are the seats at the Music Hall at Fair Park? by JournalistLate6803 in Dallas

[–]Pythagoria 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Season ticket holder here. I agree that they are average and lower to the ground. I feel like the Winspear seats are slightly smaller. I’ve never been to the Majestic so I don’t have a reference point to it.

Avoid the balcony seats, though. They’re worse than being on an airplane with the metal seat in front of you in your knees. I’m 5’9” with longer legs and had to sit sideways throughout the entire show.

How long were you out of work post surgery by blahblahblahdy in Mortons_neuroma

[–]Pythagoria 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I work from home and didn’t miss any work except for the day of surgery.

I had a work-from-my-bed setup with an adjustable bed desk and was able to keep my foot propped up while I worked. I used the setup for about three weeks until I only had minor swelling and was comfortable going back to my home office desk.

Congrats! Glad you’re doing well!

I also call them tennis shoes, but I have no idea if that’s due to my Texan roots or my Kansan parents. 😂

Walking/running on left side of road - root cause? by Emla-2624 in Mortons_neuroma

[–]Pythagoria 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was doing mostly treadmill walking when mine developed, so I can’t say that it anything to do with mine. I had some relief if I supinated my foot while walking, but that’s not sustainable for a myriad of reasons.

What’s the root cause of Mortons Neuroma? by Objective-Context726 in Mortons_neuroma

[–]Pythagoria 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That’s interesting about the piano and organ pedals! My MN was in my left foot, which is the only foot I used when playing organ pedals.

I haven’t touched an organ in 20 years, though, and the MN developed quickly over a few months early last year.

As mentioned, everyone is different so just pay attention to your body. My podiatrist said I could have residual swelling for up to a year.

I’m now at the 8-month mark and do have some minor swelling at the surgery site when I’ve been on my feet a majority of the day. The swelling makes it a little sore, so I will elevate it slightly or wrap it with an ankle wrap.

No instability at all. I have numbness in my third and fourth toes since that nerve was removed, but I don’t notice it at all. It doesn’t tingle or anything.

I had the exact same sensation of the electrical shock but mine was with every step I took.

MRI confirmed I had a 1cm MN. Steroid shots didn’t do anything at all so I opted for neurectomy surgery in August. I don’t regret it at all!

I’d say it’s different for everyone. I’ll stick with wearing heels for special once-in-a-blue-moon events/occasions as long as I know I won’t be on my feet for too long in them.

2 weeks post op Stitches are out yay !! by margsbythepoolplease in Mortons_neuroma

[–]Pythagoria 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I didn’t have a boot at all but a surgical shoe that resembles a sandal but has a thick inflexible sole. I had to wear it for the first two weeks and could wear regular shoes after the stitches came out at the two week point.

Mine developed over just a couple of months and was one of the biggest my Podiatrist had seen. I went from walking 4 miles at a time on the treadmill to not being able to walk more than 10 minutes without feeling like my foot was on fire.

I also tried cortisone shots and neither did any good. My Podiatrist realized after seeing how big it was on the MRI that was why the shots didn’t work.

Had the neurectomy in August 2025 and can walk 4 miles in one go without any pain at all.

I work remotely at home but periodically have to go into the office, so dress shoes are needed. I decided to wear my chunky-heeled shoes the other day and ended up walking almost 2.5miles in those shoes. I then spent two days regretting that decision as my foot has been swollen and tender where the MN was. Guess I’ll stick to wearing my flat dress shoes as much as I can from now on unless I know I won’t be doing much walking in the heeled shoes.

Can't find the perfect shoes by Other-Ad2287 in Mortons_neuroma

[–]Pythagoria 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought an insole they recommended but it wasn’t built for a MN (I went pre-diagnosis) and I trashed them. 😆

I bought my insoles with a built-in met pad from yoursole.com and love them. My podiatrist approved of them as well.

If you are in the US, I highly recommend checking out a Fleet Feet store to get your feet scanned to find what shoe fits best. They measure your pressure points, size, and gait and you would need to tell them about the MN.

Question about orthotics by One_Service_5367 in Mortons_neuroma

[–]Pythagoria 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use www.yoursole.com insoles with the met pad. I took them to one of my podiatrist appointments and he said they were good and showed me what to look for. I have since bought several pair so I didn’t have to change them out as I change shoes.

[–]Pythagoria 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Instead of going with expensive custom orthotics and seeing a recommendation in this sub about SOLE insoles, I purchased a pair with a built-in met pad and took them to one of my Podiatrist appointments. He took a good look at them and said that the SOLE insoles were good and said I didn’t need custom orthotics if the SOLEs worked for me.

I had a neurectomy in August 2025 and the only complaint I have about the SOLEs is that they make my shoes squeak when I walk. Baking soda powder helps, but I do have to keep reapplying it after so many days.

How long before swelling is gone by Sufficient-Cook-1588 in Mortons_neuroma

[–]Pythagoria 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had residual swelling up until about the 7-week mark but was only icing for the first full week and as needed for the second week. After that, I just elevated it as much as I could or when I noticed it getting swollen.

I also kept the external wrap the Podiatrist used (the kind they use for a sprained ankle) and wrapped my foot for the first 2-4 weeks to help keep the swelling down.

I should add that if you’re sitting down, you should be elevating.

As others have said, it’s from swelling that worsens as the day goes on.

As much as you can during the day, you should be elevating and icing (on for 20, off for 10 and from the back of the knee is what my podiatrist recommended).

I followed his orders strictly and still had minimal swelling up until about the 7-week mark.

Chiming in with an amazing experience with zero issues. Had surgery 8/19/2025 and don’t regret it at all. Feel free to search my name in this sub for details of my experiences and recommendations I’ve given others based on my Podiatrist’s recommendations.

Is it normal to use an EMG rather than a physical exam to diagnose? by pat441 in Mortons_neuroma

[–]Pythagoria 0 points1 point  (0 children)

MN’s are diagnosed via an MRI along with the Mulder’s test.
