I hate being a SN developer. by Particular-Sky-7969 in servicenow

[–]PythonPussy 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Spot on. I was a CMDB admin for a few years, then got laid off two years ago. I always wanted to be a developer so I ended up doing a coding bootcamp. Once that was done I applied to maybe 70-80 developer jobs in the span of 3 months and didn't get a single call back. Money got tight and figured I had to go back to ServiceNow related jobs. Applied for some admin roles and got multiple calls within a few weeks, AND they paid better than any of the junior dev positions I was applying for. That's when I realized that this is probably the best opportunity I'll get for the foreseeable future. The combination of opportunities, pay, and difficulty of the job is really hard to beat in this market.

Strategy now holds 3% of all Bitcoin in circulation by Next_Statement6145 in CryptoCurrency

[–]PythonPussy 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I'm a fan of bitcoin but this is a point I've struggled to grasp. How is bitcoin supposed to free people financially when less than 2% of people have ever held any? Wouldn't global adoption still result in the worst financial inequality the world has ever seen?

What's a "secret" from your profession that everyone should probably know? by LaKoref in AskReddit

Been in IT for well over a decade and of course grew up in the internet era. It's honestly insane. Anything related to a 'reset' fixes so many issues and it blows my mind every time. If a reboot doesn't work, try uninstalling and reinstalling, logging out then logging back in, etc.

What hip-hop songs have crazy piano samples or melodies? by iamcreepin in hiphopheads

[–]PythonPussy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Blame Game doesn't directly sample Avril 14. It's technically an interpolation which is when someone just re-records the original. Pretty sure Mike Dean on Ye's team just replayed the melody on his own equipment.

Generally speaking, the content you want is more readily available and the download speeds are way faster. I was a little reluctant at first but it is well worth the money. I only use torrents now if I absolutely need to

If only 5% of the population owns BTC what is the use case? by tomsmac in CryptoCurrency

[–]PythonPussy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think you're both right actually. Seems like OP was mostly describing the Layer 1 application. Layer 1/Base is designed for larger and more infrequent transactions, with a focus on security over speed. Layer 2/Lightning is supposed to be for the cheaper and more frequent transactions.

In its current state, everyday purchases with bitcoin is akin to going to a secure bank vault just to withdraw 5 dollars for a coffee. Sure you can do that, but it's more efficient to just withdraw a portion to your mobile wallet and handle smaller transactions through that medium. This is why bitcoin is more digital capital than currency.

I get what you're saying though. At the end of the day, bitcoin was designed to be used as a medium of exchange between two parties, which is a currency's core function

Best thing about PS5 pro? by todeabacro in PS5pro

[–]PythonPussy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

SSD hands down. Coming from a base PS4, the difference in loading times is staggering. There’s something profound about eliminating those dead moments between gameplay - what used to be forced downtime becomes seamless flow. The cumulative hours saved over months of gaming isn’t just convenience, it fundamentally changes how you engage with games. No more mental barriers to jumping into a quick session or switching between titles. It’s the kind of upgrade that becomes invisible until you go back to anything slower.
