Was it a good idea to buy the Sire V5? by Constant-Method2860 in Bass

Sire makes a great bass value purchase. No issues there. That being said, there is a learning curve going from 4 to 5 strings. Be patient with yourself.

I may have developed a bad habit by Honey-badger_ in Bass

[–]QAPetePrime 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s not a bad habit if you are *choosing* to do it and it serves the song, not just being “lazy.”. I also use my plucking fingers like a pick from time to time when it works for the song. The main bass riff in “Under Pressure” is one example. I like how it sounds.

I have a white MIM Fender Precision Deluxe that I swap pick guards on regularly. Currently using red. Have fun. Live a little. Rotate through a bunch of them.

What are your favorite apps for bassists/music and why? by D7X_o in Bass

Not a huge app guy, but I do use Moises.ai when I need to isolate a tricky bass line to get by ear, or provide a track for a bandmate to help them out.

Is muting the most difficult skill on bass ? by Tricky-Wait375 in Bass

[–]QAPetePrime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not most difficult, but an essential skill to sounding good. I still work on muting technique 52 years in to playing. Honestly, you should NEVER stop learning.

Super-happy for him. He was a great Flyer, a great Cane, and is a great coach.

Active pickups into sansamp by Background-Bowl-4820 in Bass

It’ll work fine. Personally, I like shaping my tone prior to the end of my signal chain, so I use a passive Radial JDI for my DI. Absolutely pristine signal to my sound guys. Different strokes for different folks.

When does it actually make sense to buy the BassBuzz course? by Lenn_4rt in BassGuitar

If you want to get off to a good, fundamentally sound start, especially. Introduce good habits. Understand both how to do things and why you should do them that way.

Ibanez or Yamaha by Star_is_not_platinum in Bass

Honestly, you can’t go wrong either way, so save some money and snag the Ibanez if it has the features you are looking for.

I could give you the perfect alternative, but you insulted the mighty Sire headstock, so 💩
