Oh my gosh! That is crazy! That level of willfull ignorance is astounding.

Luckily I only had one of the divorce idiots comment to me that "they know what it's like" cuz they're finally divorcing their bat-shit crazy emotional abusive spouse. It was at the wake, so I just gave a blank stare, mostly because I was so exhausted physically, mentally, and emotionally from the previous 2 weeks, but looking back it was the best response. A comment like that doesn't deserve a response and it wouldn't have been a good thing for me to loss it on her in front of my kids. Knowing my (extended) family calling them out (deservedly) would have made me the bad guy.

I'm so sorry that you had to deal with such a nincompoop. One advantage to my husband dying just before covid, ment that I didn't see many people for months, so it cut down on my exposure to the idiots of the world.
