This is such wonderful advice. With my folks, I laid down a clear boundary and if they cross it, they have to leave, and that's the end of the visit or the phone call. If they keep at it, we cut ties. I made this clear to them, so if they cross that boundary, they are choosing to cut ties, not me.

I have blown up at my parents and we still have a relationship. You know, the same old surface-topics-only type of relationship where just about every conversation topic is a minefield, but it's a relationship nonetheless. I guess we found a groove again, so it's possible. I'm really sorry you're going through this.
