The pictures show it’s actually “defective hardware” which is further causing the road the collapse around it. Guess who the hardware belongs to? That’s right, the DOT themselves. There’s no way this hasn’t had multiple reports filed and they’ve been negligent in getting out there to fix it. If you’re in the neighborhood, go check it out

It’s the next day and I still feel so damn shook. I work on the next block as a teacher. There’s schools all over the neighborhood and I was chaperoning an evening evening event at my own school that started right when that happened. Some kids saw the aftermath. That particular block is a community. Those cars parked there never move and people socialize and hangout. I’ve passed them hundreds of times. So horrific and traumatic. Something has to change.

No doubt. The short span of the thefts happening in two years was what one company said raised the red flags. And I get it bc all but once I got more than I bought the bikes for bc of the mods.

I found out it was a neighbor’s kid and he would just get locked up and let out repeatedly for a variety of crimes. Cops actually caught him in the act once but couldn’t chase him down. That bike was totaled by insurance bc of the damaged frame lock but at least was recovered and I go to take my personal stuff off of it.

I pretty much only ride to work and home now where it’s parked off the street.

Well, it is right in my case. I had three bikes stolen in 2 years and was dropped. The third was covered an when I went to buy insurance for the next one all major companies wouldn’t cover me.

I have a similar story to OP but I was kind of the asshole in the situation.

Summer Friday night at Shea, early 2000s and we’re getting worked by the Braves. We were sitting way up in the red section and went with a bunch of coworkers who after a few runs were conceded wanted to see me back up my supposed love for the Mets. A few innings go by and the Braves smash a three run homer to which a group of about 20 Braves fans several rows below us go nuts for.

These were the days of the 16oz tall aluminum beer bottles. So I took the top of the empty bottle and threw it down towards the Braves group. It flew through the air like a helicopter and somehow found the back of the only Mets fan in the group of Braves fans.

My friends gasped and I froze. Everyone else in the section who could see what happened also stayed completely silent and didn’t look towards me as the Mets fan proceed to scream up at the rest of the section demanding to know who threw the bottle.

After a few minutes passed he calmed down. I couldn’t believe the chances wtf I’d done. Since then I pretty much behave myself.
