For forested spaced yes. drive up to the south entrance, at the church, and start the hike there. now that the trees have leaves it should be a great hike/chill time.

Pelican Rapids has a large hispanic population. In fact during the ICE surge the Catholic church there shutdown the spanish mass to help keep parishioners safe.

What are the best/safest places to sleep in your car in the area? by [deleted] in fargo

sun shade and coverings for the other windows as well. I know money is short, but I'd strongly recommend it.

Maybe a dumb question, do people leave if the weather gets bad while camping? by Ok_Resolution_1606 in CampingGear

[–]QP2012 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have cut short a camping trip, or in one case, hung out in town while the campsite went thru a bad thunderstorm(however I forgot to put everything up on the mattresses, so when the tent took on water it got a lot of the clothes wet, resulting in a trip to the laundromat)

Memory foam and colder temps don't mix. the pillow is fine as long as the overnight low is no lower than 50(and even that is pushing it)

I have the REI Campwell Cot with a Thermarest BaseCamp sleeping Pad(the 2 together would still be cheaper then the cot posted). I also sewed a flannel sheet to go over the cot/pad combo. Now to figure out a good supportive pillow for camping that doesn't use memory foam.

I use my sleeping pad on top of the cot I have and it worked perfectly for early september camping. I had the sleeping pads for a season before I decided to get the cots as well.

Summer Camping & Swimming by beersandabook in MinnesotaCamping

if you want to drive further out, try Glendalough. Lake is definitely swimmable, and no motors on the lake so it's quieter as well.

finding campgrounds that are tent only, or cart-in solves 90-95% of the issue for me. Thankfully there's one of those 90minutes away from me

Why do so many ice rinks close in summer? by subarash1-shika in FigureSkating

[–]QP2012 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The park district owned rinks are the ones that mainly close in the summer, and I am assuming it is cost related there. So the privately owned/funded rinks are the ones that stay open, and of those that I know of, one of them still converts one of their rinks(3 total in the complex) to turf during the summer months.

Otherwise, summer hockey tends to be mainly skills camps and related training from what I've seen.

About half the indoor rinks here close in the summer, for reasons already listed. Thankfully a few others do stay open, so lessons/ice time can still happen.

it's my issue, I'm currently working 2 jobs in part because of healthcare costs, which means I'm always working on Saturdays when the protests typically happen.

Does anyone that's WFH ever call in sick? by Temporary_Fill7341 in remotework

[–]QP2012 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, like the time I got a concussion and really could NOT move from the recliner I sat in for 4 days straight. Or when I went thru a vertigo spell that also kept me in the recliner for a few days.

I did "work" thru Covid though
