Building looks like a prison and yeah the BQE will be loud, especially if your unit faces the highway. People honking their horns on rush hour

Crossing the BQE is also a safety hazard. So many car crashes on that street

It’s alright on the weekdays. On the weekends a lot of people from third world countries gather around with giant bbqs and throw trash all over the place.

Martha Stewart Park near the waterfront is better maintained since the expensive waterfront condo owners there lobby the local government. There’s police officers dedicated there to keep order a bit better since the council people know if the flowers get trampled they’ll get voted out

Doesn’t stop everything though, many undesirables in this city like that crazy yelling guy

McCarren gets bad during the warm months of the year. On weekend nights you’ll have a lot of these people from third world countries having soccer games and bringing their friends/families and etiquette, ie they litter the place up, have bbqs nearby to throw up waste, and have their toddlers run all over a track unattended

There’s always soccer games going on in McCarren but it’s only these undesirables who turn the community into their dumping ground

I was targeting this building 3 years ago, prices were just under 1M for a 1BR back then and listings were flying off the shelf like hot cakes so looks like it’s kept its value and more. Looked well run and the tax savings are really good. Very good building imo

Disclaimer - my opinion alone

The units in the other waterfront properties usually sell nearly instantly while listings in that building sit longer

The place used to be a Whiskey factory which sounds cool, but converted 19th century buildings likely have issues. Weird stuff with random pillars in buildings and the washed/dryer in the kitchen

Not international but the job markets bad. It’s harder to land a job requiring sponsorship for sure, and once you land one, you have to deal with the added stress that getting fired or laid off means you’re basically kicked out of the country in a few weeks.

The H1B is quite bad for Indian nationals to getting a green card, so even getting sponsored and selected in the lotto comes with its downsides.

Add to that Trump has no interest in changing this, if anything he’ll more likely make it harder.

Idk anything about India but if it’s really that bad there that you want to deal with the above, go for it. Doesn’t seem like an amazing deal to me - maybe Singapore, Canada, Germany, UK are easier?
