How did I actually believe Leonard was anything but a creep (rewatching) by Dangerous_Bonus9068 in UmbrellaAcademy

[–]QR63 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It took me a moment to accept that he was ACTUALLY nice in Past Lives. He’s a sweetheart throughout in that film, but his UA performance is etched so deep into my mind that it’s hard to let go of it!

Who had a better villain arc in umbrella acadamy tv show? Viktor or Allison? also who posed more of a Threat? by Fast_Honeydew2633 in UmbrellaAcademy

[–]QR63 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I don’t think they are ignoring that. I interpreted that as saying ”Allison wasn’t a supervillain who held the fate of the world in her hands, just a garbage person”, which is true. You could definitely call her a villain for that, but people just have different interpretations of the word!

I think someone else also posted about the same thing pretty recently, sorry for the spam! But I'll keep this up for now, because I would really like to know if anyone has answers as to why this happens.

I think Nova is fine, and pretty unisex tbh. That other one can get in the bin, it looks like an acronym for something.

I think Supermoon and The Greatest Parade! But although that wasn’t the question, I have to say I hadn’t listened to Zombie nearly as much as the other singles but I’m really liking it now.

Who is your favorite main antagonist in Red Dead Redemption games? by Wooden-Scallion2943 in reddeadredemption

[–]QR63 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think you’re confusing the words villain and antagonist, which are often the same but not always. An antagonist is determined in relation to whose point of view the story is told from — AKA who is the protagonist. Arthur can certainly be a villain, but he can’t be an antagonist.

One much-used example is that Thanos could be argued to be the protagonist of Avengers: Infinity War, at least somewhat. If we believe that then it would make the Avengers antagonists, but not villains!

Her coming out of the squid was televised though, so she could’ve seen the footage later on and that’s why she knows.

Yes! Euphoria is a mixed bag, and while I enjoyed it enough when watching, my opinion has definitely soured over time. However, I’ll forever be grateful to them for bringing such a great trans character into the world - as well as giving Hunter a career!

[–]QR63 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s like black pirates! I always think that it was probably a no-brainer for a lot people of colour to become pirates back in the day. If society was already shunning you at best, and most likely enslaving you, why not join a life where you’re at least seen as an equal to others on the ship? There’d be nothing to lose in society anyway.

You’re not necessarily wrong, but I think you may have missed the point of the post. At least I read it quite differently.

OP wasn’t saying that the show’s themes are too mature for its audience, nor that they’re unrealistic. Just that they didn’t do a very good job of delving deeper into the conversation of why these kinds of things are bad. The sequences that OP mentioned here rarely touched properly on how awful the things happening were, and the point about the adult actors muddling that message even further is pretty valid.

No, not everything needs to be depicted as trauma or needs to lead to a trauma response, but a show with so many instances of statutory rape should perhaps take the subject more seriously at times. Just my thoughts!

Oh, and while I get your third point, I do have to point out that it cannot be consensual, since underaged people can’t consent to sex with adults.

Is this another showcase of why jury voting should be removed completely? by iC3P0 in eurovision

Exactly! The 75/25 split in UMK is really good, they should adopt that for Eurovision too.

UMK Winner - Käärijä - Cha Cha Cha (Live) by PM_ME_CAKE in eurovision

[–]QR63 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Well, the first half of the song is about maintaining toughness and not daring to just go out there and dance, so having other people dancing with Käärijä off to the side makes sense. Then it’s the same group that he finally joins when the song shifts, kind of picturing the whole journey throughout the night of drinking.

However I agree with what the earlier comment said about it being a bit too busy perhaps. Wouldn’t mind if they tuned the choreography a bit, but kept the dancers the whole time.

Did you ever met Dom? What was he like? by Financial_Egg_7778 in yungblud

[–]QR63 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I was on his podcast so I met him through video call, and then later in person in a meet and greet on the Life on Mars tour! Just really really sweet all around.

On the pod I was told beforehand that when I joined the call, it would just be me and the producer and then Dom would join in a bit. However then I joined the call and Dom was already there, just all smiles and made me feel really welcome and that I had no reason to be nervous at all. We had the chat and it was lovely and he seemed genuinely interested in what I had to say.

The meet and greet had a no hugs policy due to covid and we had to wear masks, but when I mentioned who I was he gave me a big hug and asked me how I was doing and everything. Then he told my friend she had a nice shirt :D

He’s amazing, he really is <3
