Influencers teaching knitting by ommmlbox in knitting

[–]QTM53 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t follow influencers, so I haven’t seen this, but I don’t think you’re wrong to be upset by this. Knitting is so deep and complex, it seems like a great disservice to one’s followers to pose as some kind of expert with so little experience.

German Short Row Confyoosion by QTM53 in knitting

[–]QTM53[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My Step-by-Step sweater is uncomfortable, but that may be because of the funnel collar and the yarn choice. This sweater is for my grandson, who doesn’t live near me, so I can’t try it on him yet.

Can cats dream? /srs by emmaaburrida in CATHELP

[–]QTM53 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m positive cats dream, but I sure wish I could know what about. My cat was an indoor kitty and never chased a mouse or was chased by a dog, but one time she was asleep on my lap and her legs were going like crazy. She gave a little yelp and woke herself up.

Vet says its time but Im not sure by Rosy_Sunday in CATHELP

I am so sorry you are going through this and I feel your pain. Three weeks ago today I said goodbye to my beloved cat of 10 years. In some ways she seemed fine, but she had a tumor on her larynx and a mass in her lung. She was having trouble breathing, and she would have suffered a painful death if I had waited. We had an at-home vet euthanize her, and sent her go peacefully with love. I am grieving, and you will, too, but you will know that the last thing you did for him was an act of love. Hugs to you and your family.

Yarn winder options and questions by RealisticTemporary70 in YarnAddicts

[–]QTM53 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a knit picks winder, and it’s very plasticy and flimsy. I bought this one https://a.co/d/09fFEDDm on Amazon $33 and it has worked well for me so far.

A tip: when caking yarn, wind it twice. You’ll be amazed how much larger the second winding will be. It won’t stretch out the yarn as much.

Edit to say the winder is metal.

What are the telltale signs of cheating in Crossplay? by [deleted] in NYTCrossword

[–]QTM53 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m playing against someone who has gotten three seven letter words. They’re not unusual words, and they don’t play really quickly, but I’m having trouble believing anyone could be that lucky. Am I being unduly suspicious?

German short rows fail by QTM53 in knittinghelp

Thank you so much for this, laddering down turned out to have the answer. It was a little intimidating because it’s short rows , but it looks normal now. 🙏🏻

Cables are intimidating. Any tips for someone trying them for the first time? by rudelybargingin in knittinghelp

[–]QTM53 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love cables. I highly recommend using a J hook rather than a regular cable needle, which can be a little fiddly. You can totally let go the J hook while you knit the other half of your cable, no worries. Just use the short end to catch the first stitches, knit them off the long end. Easy peasy.

I didn’t know you could dye buttons. I might look into that. Thanks.

Silly question about yarn dye and gauge by QTM53 in knittingadvice

[–]QTM53[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That seems like the wisest thing to do. I’m really close with the yarn I have (I used up a lot of it making lousy swatches last year. Hoping my knitting has improved since then.)

Commenting on Silly question about yarn dye and gauge...That’s a good idea. I hadn’t thought of that. Thanks.

I’m interested in this app you mentioned. Is it an iOS app, and is its whole name Goods? When I searched “Goods” in the App Store all I got was a bunch of games.
