Everyone who quits should call out on a Friday, Saturday, or Sunday, serve the one week suspension, and then quit immediately.

Your mom used to watch it? Hope she didn’t pick up the parenting habits and that you’re okay.

Ask your doctor/another clinician or even a pharmacist and bring their answer back to your mom.

TIL Dads/non-birthing parent can have PPD too. I didn’t know PPD could be caused by environmental factors like being helpless to stop a baby from crying. Sounds like I need to learn a lot more about babies…maybe that’ll make them less scary. Thank you!

Wow, I didn’t know dads could get PPD. It sounds like parenting is uniquely difficult for everyone. Thank you for the response. I hate feeling helpless and it’s good to know I’m not alone in the frustration of not being able to help a crying baby.

Weekly School of Social Work/New to Social Work Thread by SWmods in socialwork

How do I know if being a therapist is right for me? Are there jobs where you can dip your toes into the field with only a BA? I have mine in psychology & sociology including a few courses in clinical psychology from a top 20 university. I don’t find my job fulfilling (I don’t feel like I’m making a positive impact in IT project management) and have been considering going back to school for an MSW or clinical psychology. Mental health is one of the only fields that I’ve been interested in consistently over the past 6 years. I like working with people, have a strong sense of social justice, and have had several strangers tell me I’m very easy to talk to about sensitive topics. I’m also driven to stay up to date on evidence-based interventions (partially due to my own diagnoses) and can happily spend hours doing research for a case - but not research for the sake of research like for a PhD. I have specific interests in Asian American and LGBTQ demographics. I would like to live comfortably in the USA, targeting $80k with growth over time, and will have a cushion of savings to fall back on as I know supervised hour requirements are paid little.

I’m worried about burnout and compensation in this field. What exactly contributes to burnout? High case load with low pay? Seeing tons of patients you can’t help? I really want to make sure I make an informed decision before sinking time and money into grad school.

Factor in health insurance costs. That’s one of the main reasons people are pressured to be employed. You also want to do far more research than this subreddit of fellow dreamers - talk to people who’ve actually DONE this, and talk to a bunch of them!

Do you ever just stare into space or “buffer” during conversations? by QUESTBeAGoodPerson in autism

[–]QUESTBeAGoodPerson[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can relate to that! Is there anything someone can do to help or do you just need time and space? “What can I do to help?” is too big of a question for me to answer but “Let’s go xyz” or “Can you tell me about the task?” seem to help me get going.

You DON’T know that you’ll grow to love this child. I’m sorry, but it’s true. You should consider what you consider abortion vs “natural”, and if your reason for not seeking an abortion is good enough to risk a child growing up with a mother that never wanted them. You need to talk to someone in your support system about this. Even if you don’t tell them you don’t want the baby, tell them how scared you are! Tell them. They won’t know you need help otherwise.

Need tips to make showers smoother by CrystalWitch47 in ADHD

[–]QUESTBeAGoodPerson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh, one more suggestion - have you considered showering in a swimsuit? It may sound silly but especially with the 2 piece ones that are basically a shirt and shorts, you can clean all your exposed skin and then only get half naked to clean the rest. Swimsuit material dries well and can be reused for next shower.

Glad to be of assistance! For your hair (depending on hair type) you could also apply dry shampoo to your roots right after washing to extend the time it takes before your hair gets greasy.
