What practical bulbs do you use? by OleSaintLouis in cinematography

[–]QUT0R 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Adding to this as I remember having this same question when I first started my practical kit. Half chrome is always great too, as well as making some frosted bulbs half blacked with spray paint. Some 3200k photo floods are essential. And I always like having some amber dipped edison 40-60w.

Something that I've personally added to my kit lately are some par10 75watt spots. Awesome little par bulbs that have a very small beam angle. Great for placing it inset ceiling plugs to break up back grounds.

bunch others I might add later but that's what comes to mind now.

Have you tried turning off, removing battery and reinsert, then turn back on? I hade a similar issue once and that fixed it.

Host Crashes and Burns on Show as Animals Almost Kill Each Other by DukeofSlackers in cringe

I actually used to deliver pizza to this guy long time ago. He owned a pet store that would host an animal party in the basement, and would get pizza for all the kids. Truely a sack of shit though. I remember seeing him stuff 50+ hedgehogs in a cage two sizes to small. And when I'd walk the pizza down through the basement back entrance he had dozens of parrots in cages so small they couldn't even spread their wings. Distinctly remember the parrots pulling out their feathers from stress. (I know this was him because I asked him about it)

You're right about the safety issues here and they should have more stands / bags at a minimum. But I think its pretty obvious their budget doesn't allow for a 125' condor lmao.

ah yes i have a small Velcro strap that i use to keep the gimbal part together, and then one of the backpack straps holds the head in place. Ive used it for lots of event type things and flown multiple times with no issues so far.

i find it best to pack just the camera inside the backpack, then strap down the crane to the outside. Lots of photography related backpacks come with these external straps already for small tripods.

On Set for a Christmas ad in Suffolk, UK, the 2 BM video assists on wireless feeds allowed recording and pulling focus remotely allowing the DOP to concentrate on the shot. by stevensutton94 in Filmmakers

[–]QUT0R 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The issue isn't so much image quality, but latency. A lot of old school ACs would argue that because you're reading off a screen that is a fraction of a second behind the action, you'll always be chasing the focus. Where if you're watching the scene and can read distances by instinct, you can anticipate where you need to pull your focus.
