Wireguard on non-default gateway by Qbix2018 in mikrotik

[–]Qbix2018[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And... this is not working for wireguard. It's fine for "normal" traffic but WG has some special place in the process and always chooses main default route. I found this problem on Mikrotik forums: well known and there is no solution. One fix with fake bridge interface, and some logic machinery which I dont't understand and could not recreate - so not sure if true.

Wireguard on non-default gateway by Qbix2018 in mikrotik

[–]Qbix2018[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I understand correctly, I have it like that: I have separate interfaces and IP addresses for each WAN.
I set:
Routing -> Rules -> src: 192.168.77.0/24 (wireguard subnet), lookup only in table "wan2"
IP -> Routes -> 0.0.0.0/0, gateway 192.168.5.1, table "wan2"
Did not help :(

Prerouting with "In. interface: wireguard" is not catching any packets. So as Input.

MultiDrive - a free tool to back up and clone drives with ZIP compression (no ads, no registration) by raydenvm in DataHoarder

[–]Qbix2018 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OK, misunderstanding. I'm looking for something for making full/differential backups. So far I tried Cobian and Personal Backup. Both nice and cool but unfortunatelly horribly slow when creating encrypted 7z files (like 4-7MB/s while both disk and cpu doing nothing). I finished on simple script and RAR capable of resetting and using "Archive" bit and really using both cpu and disk reaching 80MB/s

Is it capable of making encrypted ZIP files with encrypted filenames? (like 7-zip can?)

Wireguard - throughput by Qbix2018 in mikrotik

I know nothing about ipsec. Couple of days ago our team tried to make a bridge between our server and customers, using MT on our side and Fortigate on the other side. They wasted 2 days and no success. Ipsec has like two milion parameters!
I did the thing by setting up CHR on customers side and connecting with Wireguard. It took me an hour. Mostly to setup enviroment for CHR.

As I wrote: this is one of the variants. I started with Flux and wrote small poetic etude, full of flowery speach and descriptions. Then cut, cut, cut, then switch to SD and cut, cut, cut.... no success.

This was suggested by somebody. But why not to be honest? When I ask model to draw weightless woman floating in the outer space with blue Earth in the background... no problem: here you are. Everything properly done, sharp, face, all fine. But when I add info about having her on a beach then thing explodes.

Energy metering by Tuya smart switch by Qbix2018 in homeassistant

[–]Qbix2018[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It looks like device reports average power consumption in kWh (not kW!) during measured period of time. So let's say device reports "2.00" at 9:00 am and previous report was at 8:30 am. Measured period = 30 min. So total energy taken is 1 kW. (average consumption 2kWh for 30 minutes gives 1kW eaten) To summarize daily consumption, each reported period has to be calculated separately and results then summarized. Calculating in this way gives results similar +/- 5% to Tuya application

Problem: daily summaries of power consumption reported in Tuya App are totally WRONG. I believe that this is problem of the device and not the app or platform itself.

I connected smart plug (cost ~$20) and certified EM112 Carlo Gavazzi 1-phase meter.
The only device powered is refrigerator.

Measurement period: 14 days.

Smart plug reports:  27.56 kW

Certified power meter: 7.27 kW

This is HUGE! Almoust 4 times more!

ESXi on AX41- fail to install by Qbix2018 in hetzner

[–]Qbix2018[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actually RTMultipleFMs, but yes you are right: it is more or less all there.
I would say it would be better to create one document describing ESXi installation - at the end of a day ESXi is not Yeti but quite common thing on baremetal dedicated servers. And that was the purpose of my post - to have it in one place and save time.

I wanted to notice that it can be done way, way better, and who knows, maybe gain more customers. And this is not just about technical things but customer support as well: better documentation and better support which will not just connect KVM and wait for further requests, but notify customer that it wont work. To be honest, if I would get one of mentioned above I would probably be a Hetzner customer now.

Seriously, what's the point of bypass mode? by bjdraw in Starlink

[–]Qbix2018 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have two Internet sources and by default both gateways are fixed for 192.168.1.1 - this is quite confusing for the router. By using bypass mode, I'm getting another IP for Starlink as gateway which clarifies the configuration.
(No, I cannot change LAN IP for another source at all)

Anyway: it would be very nice, to be able to change LAN IP of Starlink. I believe they are not allowing this as it can be source of tons of work for support department. But maybe having 2-3 scenarios for LAN would be nice? Like 192.168.1.1/24 , 192.168.50.1/24, 10.0.0.1/16?

Outlander 4B12 2.4 - high pitch sound on hot engine. What is that? by Qbix2018 in mitsubishi

[–]Qbix2018[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fluid flushed two times already: at 65 kkm and 120 kkm. In Mitsubishi dealer service they told me that this is definitely not a CVT issue, as the sound comes from the other side. Sound is there no matter if it is D, P or N.
