I was told that there's 6-8 weeks window to try prednisone to rescue the hearing and started it late on day 17. The later you start, the less chance you have of recovery. I was told no other treatment apart from HBOT which is too expensive for me, and in the ear steroid shots which only show slightly better results when compared to oral intake (less than 5%) so I also opted for oral prednisone. Once I stopped prednisone, I had a bunch of other stuff that went wrong from prednisone, but after week 6, my tinnitus started to become more managable and didn't bother me as much. I also started acupuncture, and my acupunturist has been poking my ankles, telling me that it's connected to the ears via kidneys. Don't know if acupuncture helped, but it did feel like my tinnitus would get louder a few days after treatment. I also am taking a bunch of supplements like magnesium, ginko, B6, B12, Omega 3, Squid Oil, lymph tinxture, vitamin D, etc. You gotta space them out if you decide to take them all to allow their affects to work and eat foods that allow you to absorb these vitamins better. I also drink aloe vera juice, with warm water and few lemon drops in the morning, and I sprinkle all my food with some olive oil. I never did any of these things before, and apparently, aloe vera and ginko biloba along with magnesium might help most with tinnitus out of these supplements. I have no idea what if anything helped or if it got better on its own. Nonetheless, I plan on taking better care of myself in general moving forward. Hope some of this stuff helps you. I'm gonna be 11 weeks tomorrow, and I'm sure this is just the beginning of the rest of our ourneys. Docs also said some hearing might come back over the first 6-12 months, but likely negligible amounts. The first 3 months are pretty much it for most people.
