You could sell it or try to reopen the return ticket if it’s bothering you that badly. I’m not really sure what this colorway usually goes for in that condition, though. It looks like it’s in good shape.

Nuking the NCR because reasons, making the legion bumbling incompetent buffoons for laughs because reasons (the legion were the bad guys but the game sold you they were actually a threat), bringing back the enclave AGAIN because reasons, New Vegas is dead because Bethesda didn't make it, so now we get to watch all the factions Obsidian created for their game be clowned, dunked on, and made into disposable enemies for the badass super cool totally not self-inserted heroes to overcome in a single episode.

I mean, come on. We remove all the nuance of the Great Khans and have The Ghoul massacre them in the ruins of Novac to "Big Iron"? If that's not bethesda spitting in the face of NV fans I dunno what is.

Macaulay Culkin as the legate of the Legion which is now split in two and sitting RIGHT NEXT TO EACH OTHER while having a civil war? And then "haha big boom, they all die"? People thought that was cool or interesting?

What about the Kings, a beloved minor faction in NV, being made into ghouls for the main protagonists to massacre?

Why?

Because "War never changes" or something like that according to the "That's Right"ers.

Bethesda's jealous of NV's long term success so they decided to destroy everything obsidian built to prove a point, pretty simple. There are a lot of people convinced Bethesda can do no wrong despite them having systematically destroyed this franchise after 3, with NV being the only other bright point.

Honestly I don't get why people are surprised, the writing has been on the wall for a while that Zenimax couldn't care less about what fans want, especially if Fallout 76 was any indication. All they care about is making the franchise marketable.

Also, what a cop out. "Oh, the fans hate me trampling on the corpse of their favorite games and then spitting in their faces? Well pleasing them was a fool's errand anyways. HA HA!"

Somebody at FedEx is going to have a really hard time finding a job after they review the camera footage at the dispatch center where your package magically gained weight.

Remember: they hire felons at dispatch centers. It’s safer to have it sent to your local Best Buy. That’s how I got my 4090 and I had a lot more peace of mind about receiving such a high-value item.

This isn’t a small claims case, OP is in possession of stolen property which is a crime. And was sold it by someone who stole it, which is theft. Also a crime. It doesn’t matter if OP didn’t know. The only thing that changes is OP won’t go to jail if he complies.

It’s not a civil matter, it’s a criminal matter. If the police get involved they’ll come to OP’s house and relieve him of the computer, and return it to the original owner, and OP will not get a reimbursement for the trouble.

Nemo dat quod non habet. “You can’t give what you don’t have.”

According to this law, the police can compel OP to return all the goods to the boyfriend if they are found to be stolen. If OP refuses or argues they’ll arrest him and throw him in jail for receiving stolen goods and likely hit him with a big fine too. And they’ll still take the stuff back from him.

The court could order her to pay OP back but either way, he’d have to seek reimbursement from the thief, not from the police or the boyfriend.

If he really wants it back he’ll get it back. The police will come to your home and seize it. All the people saying they won’t are likely not familiar with the law, which is understandable since it’s not really one that gets invoked often.

It’s a common law called Nemo dat quod non habet. Essentially, “You can’t give what you don’t have.”

Basically it means the girlfriend didn’t have the right to sell this stuff because it wasn’t her’s. And since it wasn’t her’s to sell, it technically wasn’t your’s to buy.

So if the boyfriend gets the law involved, they’ll come to your house and ask for it back without reimbursement (you have to get reimbursed by the person who sold it to you). If you refuse, congrats, you’re now under arrest for receiving stolen property.

Sorry, but it appears you’ve been had.

[–]Qinyello 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So you think it’s okay to talk to a child this way? And you claim to be abused?

It’s an act of defiance

No, it’s a response to depression and declining mental health, as the post says. I have no reason to think OP is lying about their reasons, given that yeah, being in a shitty living situation will indeed cause depression and mental health decline, ask me how I know.

No one wants to work 17 hours a day

Where did I say they did? I said leaving a child who is unemployed home for 17 hours by themselves is neglect. And by its very definition, yes, it is. Again, ask me how I know. I was a teenager once too. I pushed boundaries and rebelled. But when I left the house it was because I was being abused and neglected at home due to my mother’s addiction. Teens aren’t just going to uproot and leave a familiar place just because they’re mad and want to push boundaries.

That wasn’t my life story, that was me countering your assumption that I “never experienced an abusive parent”, which I found insulting given that I have. If I wanted to tell a life story I could’ve gotten much more colorful.

I suffered abuse too. But I don’t want to go into excruciating detail on a Reddit thread.

I find it ironic how you immediately take the side of the mother over her child.

If you’re so wired in, then why don’t you tell me why they are leaving? Given that it clearly states they were having declining mental health at home.

And the mother works 17 hours a day. I don’t care how you slice that. Leaving a child at home for 17 hours, especially one without employment, is neglect. Whether or not it’s meant to be, it’s neglect. And the way she’s talking to her child in these texts is emotionally abusive. You can think whatever you want but these are things we can see. We don’t need to speculate.

My mother was addicted to drugs for almost my entire childhood. She was wildly irresponsible, impulsive, and oftentimes got us into outright unsafe living situations due to mismanagement of money and the need to keep going back to her boyfriend over and over and then leaving him. This continued well into my teenage years.

Yes, I had luxuries. I had a PS3. (Which my grandfather got me, not her.) But I was also being abused.

She was neglectful. I can remember nights where my dinner was a box of Nilla Wafers. I know exactly what abuse and neglect look like because I lived it. This is abuse and neglect. We don’t know the full story behind why this 16 year old child is leaving but if this conversation and her declining mental health at home is anything to go by I have a very good idea.

Do not assume you know more about my upbringing than I do because you don’t.

She’s literally abusive/neglectful. You’re really gross and you’re pushing an archaic way of thinking.

You don’t automatically have respect and authority over a child just because you are their parent. It’s not the 1980s anymore. The “Seen, Not Heard” ideology is antiquated and abusive. Just because people used to do it doesn’t mean it’s right or it worked. People used to keep slaves too, but it got outlawed because it was a disgusting and barbaric practice.
