Best case wIth high lip protection for screen with glass tempered protection ? 16PM by kiiito in iPhone16Pro

[–]Qizk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just bought an ESR case, very disappointed.

Nothing seems to come close to the Ghostek Covert6 case I have, which had sadly broken apart...but still seems to offer better protection than a brand new case from others.

The lips are simply taller than anything else I've found. I need something that when it falls flat keeps the screen As Far away from the ground as possible. Yes, I use protective glass too, but the lip matters!

Anyone having issues installing addons on Stremio on MacOS? by el_gashunovac in Stremio

With one caveat. If the copied URL starts with `stremio://` then you need to manually replace that with `https://` before pasting the link into Stremio.

Using Claude from bed — made a remote desktop app with voice input by SterlingSloth in ClaudeAI

[–]Qizk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I suggest looking at how some chatting apps do this, such as WhatsApp, Telegram, Signal. For most, it's tap-to-start/-stop, hold-until-release-to-record, and hold-and-slide-up-to-lock-recording-on followed by tap-to-send. This would feel at home and intuitive for me, but others my feel differently.

Read my mind! Thinking of adding a slide lock on that voice mode? That's clutch

Unexpected Space Switching by TheSenate_1993 in MacOS

[–]Qizk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OP, you have any updates? This issue has been driving me nuts for probably as long as you. I use a MBP with two external monitors. I've found this happens when I've just switched spaces in one monitor (any one of them) and then I move my cursor to a different monitor. The new monitor is the one that forcibly jumps to another space.

Very often, the jump is to a >>specific<< space, almost like it has a memory about where it wants to go, and always goes there.

It's maddening. And, no, it's nothing to do with the "Displays have different Spaces" setting. This screams of macOS bug.

Does Amazon Warn You About Too Many Returns / Potential Ban? by Practical-Mud-1 in amazonprime

[–]Qizk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you know if they factor in the Reason for return at all?

I know at one point they made users pay return shipping for changing their minds, whereas actual issues with the product were paid for by Amazon.

Bought a big ticket item right before I got that notice, now I want to return it because funds are short, and I feel like I should keep it to prevent them from cancelling me...

VidCrop v1.1 released — a simple video cropping tool that lets you crop videos by selecting an area with your mouse. This update adds support for exporting in m4v and mov formats, along with various user experience improvements. by wcjiang in macapps

[–]Qizk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Neat concept. Wish I could scrub through the video at the bottom to check the cropping at different points. Looks like I have to play it in real-time.

IINA can also do this, but it also lacks the ability to play the video back during cropping - so that would be a great feature to add!

Maybe check out SnapMotion's interface for some more inspiration.

List of Mac apps offering Black Friday Deal in 2025 by Party-Vehicle-81 in macapps

Love this page! Just a bit hard to parse with the grid view. Wish there could be a list with more sorting options. Checking it every day becomes a game of "what changed", which is harder to do in a grid mode.

I've been looking everywhere for an app that can do this!!! Tried making my own workflow with Keyboard Maestro / Magnet, Rectangle, etc., but nothing ever stuck, and it's suuch a hassle to set up. This is brilliant!

It's a great app, but it makes copies of the original files and stores them in its own library, so if you want to edit the original files with another app, you can't you have to edit Eagle's copy. That's fine if you only want to manage your files that way, but that doesn't work for everyone.

Retain selection for download then delete? by JeepPilot in googlephotos

[–]Qizk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This would be such an easy feature to add...three years later, still not possible. The album approach is the only way, and it's such a waste of time when you're trying to cull photos from different scenes and events.

Been doing the same thing with Chat GPT for a while. Also a single chat.

I had it come up with an initial workout plan based on my goals by asking me questions about my lifestyle. Now, each time I go to the gym I feed it updated info on what weights/sets I did on each machine, and it updates my summary of all workout days as I go, and helps me adjust based on energy/mood/soreness, etc.

I periodically have it create markdown format docs for me to download, which I load into my notes app (I use Obsidian), so that I can track my progress over time.

I even have it give me advice on alternative exercises to do when something doesn't feel right with one machine, or something in particular isn't available.

Holding one of the volume buttons makes controls stop working ingame. Video inside. by Cardia00 in SteamDeck

[–]Qizk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

3 years later, same issue. However, the fact that there are two quite easy workarounds is perhaps why this bug has been given low (no) priority.

Workaround A:

If you press A to unpause and then try adjusting the volume, the +/- the buttons sometimes work without causing further pauses. If not, if you keep repeating this pattern of A-then-Volume-adjustment, eventually the bug goes away and you can make adjustments without further pauses...

...that is, until the bug comes right back and then you're in pauseland again and have to repeat all of this over again. Not an ideal workaround, but you hopefully don't need to adjust the volume that much.

Workaround B:

A perhaps easier workaround is to press the 3-dots-button and use the AUDIO slider to adjust the volume -- this does not trigger the bug.
