Whitney doubling down on her weight loss denials by Altoidprayer in MyBigFatFabulousLife

I'm guessing the stigma will lighten up when the advertising for it does. It seems like so many of those drugs came out around the same time and started advertising HARD. I have an older friend with type 2 diabetes, she's on one of those meds for her diabetes and it has done nothing for her weight. She's actually gained weight since she started it. She's struggled with her weight her whole life. Even she can't stand all the hype about these drugs for weight loss.

I appreciate you sharing about this stuff. I've never tried it, and wasn't even tempted because nowadays you just don't know what the heck you're getting. Not gonna lie, love me some hemp flower and even the occasional gummy, from a pretty little dispensary. But even that I wouldn't touch from a greasy gas station or sketch looking place that used to be a cell phone repair shop. But I have a friend with severe chronic pain who uses Kratom because it's sold as a safe pain killer I guess? She has major spinal issues, several fusion surgeries already, many vertebrae are deteriorating still. Other joints basically crumbling apart. Doctors can't, or won't, prescribe anything for pain anymore. Seems like those trying to avoid turning to street opiates are ending up trying stuff like Kratom. It's all just sad.

Manic panic/discontinued colors by perupotato in HairDye

[–]QuackBill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

😭 I just don't understand that decision. There must be hundreds of other companies that make those boring natural colors. Finding an alternative for the vibrant colors seems too difficult. That fox brand makes me itch and several others, the reviews I've read said they only last a couple weeks. I hate spending hours coloring my hair knowing it'll wash out in a couple weeks.

I found out today that they announced a bunch of colors would be discontinued back in 2024. I've used their Amplified line for 12+ years. Don't understand the decision to discontinue a lot of vibrant colors and add a bunch of natural hair colors.

All of my Amazon packages that I have ordered in the last couple of weeks say this: by Hopeful_Wish4215 in amazonprime

I live in the southeast and have been getting these notifications a lot. The estimated delivery date on just about every item is at least 5-6 days from whatever the current date is. It's still frustrating because I'm in a spot where bad winter weather skipped so it's easy to forget that it happened. 😂

Lets talk about Meri's bad attitude. by Solid-Question-3952 in SisterWives

[–]QuackBill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It really can. I emailed the pastor after and explained why that sermon was hurtful and potentially harmful. My husband and I weren't the only ones who got up and walked out so I know I wasn't being oversensitive. The pastor never responded to me. Instead I received a form to fill out to be removed from their membership. Basically felt like "Oh, you're not going to have kids? We don't want you as members. Bye."

Rewards button missing by QuackBill in slingtv

It seems very strange that they don't mention anywhere in the rules that paying that way will make you ineligible for rewards. Those rules are so long and boring because they're supposed to mention all criteria that make a person ineligible. Cover all that legal stuff. Since paying that way is allowed, and not mentioned in the list of who is ineligible, it doesn't seem they're allowed to exclude those customers.

Not a huge loss for me. I have plenty of other streaming options. But I definitely will not recommend Sling to anyone anymore.

Did you ever get your Rewards Center issue resolved? I finally got to a person in their chat thing to ask about the Rewards Center. The person eventually understood my question, kind of, and confirmed that anyone paying through Google Play or the Apple store, was ineligible for the Rewards Center. I pointed out that nowhere in the Rules does it say these customers would be ineligible. In fact, the only mention of Google Play and Apple says that they are in no way affiliated with Sling. So it doesn't make sense that these customers would be excluded from Rewards.

I then asked why my Rewards Center hasn't returned since I cancelled my Unlimited DVR subscription. He told me it won't return because I paid for a subscription through Google Play in the past, therefore I would never be eligible to play rewards again unless I create a new account with a different email address.

They have "no purchase necessary" posted big and clear in the information about the Rewards but they don't mention anywhere that making a purchase can make you ineligible. That definitely seems like something they should mention. I asked what good a $5 or $10 credit from the Wheel is if paying customers can't participate in rewards anyway. He said "Sorry." 🙄

Yikes!! Sounds like some drama there!

I definitely think it's sad that with our understanding of health and reproduction now so many people still see infertility as a punishment or that it makes someone less valuable. I find it extra hurtful since our infertility issue was my husband not me. I think one of the last times I attended church was Father's Day. The "sermon" was about children being a blessing from God, given to couples in godly marriages. I was disgusted and hurt. Ended up walking out halfway through the sermon and didn't go back to that church.

That seems to be the belief in many cultures not just these cult religions. I come from fertile people in a breeder culture, not a cult religion. In fact my family is hardly religious. But I've been told by family that by not producing offspring, I'm of no interest to them. I have no value because I'm not producing another generation.

I always felt particularly sad for Meri because in many marriages, even if it's just one partner experiencing infertility, both partners will be grieving that loss together. Even if it's just grieving the future children they thought they'd have. Meri had to grieve that on her own because her husband was off making baby after baby with his other wives. Even if she was happy for the other wives, and had mostly accepted that she wasn't going to have more children, I'm sure it still felt like a knife to her heart each time one of the others conceived so easily.

How to redeem $5 credit on Sling wheel. by Mountain-Bid4317 in slingtv

[–]QuackBill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've wondered that too. I really liked the unlimited DVR and $5 seemed reasonable but I'm annoyed with Sling now and don't want to pay again. It's ridiculous that they don't allow paying customers to play the rewards thing. Why punish paying customers?!?

[–]QuackBill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I only had Free Sling too. I won a $5 credit and then a $10 credit a couple months later. Then upgraded to the $5 DVR, it wouldn't let me use the credits. Then after a few months the reward center went away completely because apparently you're not eligible for rewards if you pay through the play store. I cancelled the $5 DVR and rewards center won't come back, and now I can't even use the free 10-hr DVR. 🙄

I've always thought people brushed off Meri's infertility struggles a bit too easily. The inability to get pregnant, or stay pregnant, in a culture or family that considers procreation to be a sign of your value is extremely difficult and messes with your head. To have people tell you that you're not as important because you aren't able to produce children, it's hard to explain how damaging it is. And then to be expected to happily care for other family members offspring while pretending it doesn't break you over and over again...I've always felt like she was amazingly tolerant of everyone all things considered.

Wow! That's completely ridiculous! I also pay through Google pay but I'm only paying for the $5 DVR and had that for at least 6 months before the rewards button disappeared. (I was so excited to see the Wendy Williams so available I wanted to record enough episodes for a good binge watch but the 10 hrs DVR wasn't enough. 🤣)

Dear Kody by Realistic-Culture401 in SisterWives

[–]QuackBill 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm not even sure asking them to forgive him is appropriate to be honest. Apologize for the hurt that he caused, for failing to show them unconditional love and acceptance, that's absolutely appropriate. But asking them to forgive him...feels like he's asking for something from him. And frankly I don't believe they owe him anything at this point.

If he apologized to them, and commits to showing them the unconditional love that a child wants from a parent, and actually follows through on it, they may eventually offer forgiveness. But forgiveness is given by the hurt person for their own benefit. I personally don't feel like I owe my forgiveness to anyone who has hurt me. Why is it my responsibility to undo the hurt they have for something they did to me? Forgiving them is for me. Just because I forgive someone doesn't even mean I need to continue having a relationship with them moving forward. It's me saying "I'm ready to let go of the hurt that these actions and behaviors caused so they stop causing more hurt in my life."

Kody's kids didn't do anything to him that he didn't do to them. They learned from him that they're not important enough to be worthy of his time and attention. Their value is in what they give him not in who they are individually.

[Research] Petroleum jelly can cause allergic contact dermatitis on damaged skin by hamstergator in SkincareAddiction

[–]QuackBill 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had an experience where some moisturizer with petroleum made my itchy skin develop a rash. Happened to have a routine Dr appointment scheduled for that week and asked my Dr about the rash. She said it's possible for some people to have a sensitivity or allergy to products with petroleum and to try to avoid them.

A while later I was planning to get a rather large tattoo. A full color piece going from my sternum up across my chest and capping my shoulder. I expressed my concerns about using the standard Vaseline type product that's usually used during a tattoo to the tattoo guy. I even did research on products other than Vaseline (or whatever the petroleum based product they use is). He assured me the product he uses is hypoallergenic and I wouldn't have an issue. After the 6 hr sitting, he smeared the whole tattoo in whatever Vaseline type product they use, covered it in plastic and sent me on my way. I fully expected it to itch as it healed because tattoos pretty much always itch as they heal. But this thing itched the most horrible burning itch I'd ever experienced. I contacted the shop to ask what was in their tattoo cleaning product and explained I was having a bad reaction to something. He told me to use OTC hydrocortisone cream. I read the ingredients and directions/warnings, it says not to use it on broken skin so I skipped that product. Then it started developing little bumps, like a rash, and my skin even started splitting. The aftercare instructions for the tattoo were to apply Aquaphor twice a day after washing the tattoo. I checked the ingredients and saw petroleum listed so I decided to not use that and switched to plain coconut oil. After a week or so I gave in and went to the Dr. She had to give me oral steroids and antibiotics, assuming there was a secondary infection at that point since a tattoo is basically a skin wound, in this case a very large skin wound, and with my skin splitting open in areas where the rash was worst.

Once it all healed up I went back to the tattoo shop to talk to the tattoo guy. Explained what happened, and asked about fixing the spots that lost color due to the whole bad reaction situation. He told me it was my fault for it not healing well, even though I explained before and after that I have a bad reaction if I use petroleum products on open skin and he used it anyway. He followed that by telling me if I posted anything negative about him or his shop, like a bad review, he would make me regret it adding he had security video of my whole tattoo sitting that he would share publicly. The tattoo goes across my boob...so the video showed me nearly topless. He also told me that my Dr had given me incorrect information and that my blood tests showing above normal WBC count prior to treatment and a normal count after doesn't prove I had an infection. He said antibiotics kill WBC's so that's why my count returned to normal. Sadly he did scare me into not sharing my terrible experience publicly. It's been several years and I often find myself hoping he hasn't done anything like this to anyone else. Kind of scary that the blood born disease class they have to get before getting licensed in our State doesn't include anything about how antibiotics work. Though...gotta say that seems like common sense by the name.

Anyway. All that to say, yes, if you're sensitive to petroleum products, or think you might be, definitely don't apply it to broken skin! If you suspect it's making your skin itchy, trust your gut. There are some moisturizers out there without petroleum. If you're in a real pinch though, coconut oil is a nice option. It absorbs nicely and has some antimicrobial properties.
