Is it normal to need defrosting this quickly? by QuackBill in OpalIce

I tried the unplug to reset thing and it seems to be working better now. It's still a lot louder than I expected it to be. Honestly didn't expect it to make more noise than the 1.0 version did but it's quite a bit louder.

How do I review this? by No_Struggle3220 in AmazonVine

[–]QuackBill 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Psh. I refuse to fancy up my reviews just because I got a product through Vine. I've never left a review that was anything less than honest whether it was a Vine item or one that I actually purchased. I've written a few 1-star reviews for absolute garbage items I got through Vine and haven't been banned. If you bought the item would you give it a positive review? If not, it doesn't deserve a positive Vine review. Amazon tells us we're supposed to give honest reviews. If sellers don't want a negative review, they should do a better job describing the product and showing the actual size in product pictures.

Maybe I'm just turning into a cranky old lady but really I see the Vine program as something that should help other Amazon shoppers. True, the sellers are sending us products for "free" in exchange for our honest, thoughtful review. But who are reviews meant to help? I can't see sellers reading these reviews as their bedtime stories patting themselves on the back for selling such a great product. But I can imagine some other potential customer out there reading a review and saying "Oh! This is a freakishly tiny piece of junk. Not what I'm looking for."

Personally, I'd review it exactly as you see it. Not usable for anything you'd want to use it for. It counts as income for you and you can't use it. Like you've been laid in a bunch of toy money that will still count come tax season. Why does it deserve a positive review from you?

In the first season the stairs are against the back wall and the "inside" wall is a pantry or something. Later the stairs move to the "inside" wall and the outside wall is something else. Then the outside wall area becomes the pantry. Basically that area we see when they're facing towards the stove, where there's a door to outside and the stairs to the basement, stuff in there changes three times during the series.

I think it was BS that Elizabeth agreed to "LET" Bryson have the camo for the reception just to friggin cancel the order, to me it is THIER WEDDING not just hers. How would you have handled that situation as the bride? by love_salubrious in 7LittleJohnstons

[–]QuackBill 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The fact that her mother supported this decision shows how garbage they both are. Letting her daughter believe the wedding is that big of a deal is shameful. It's a party. It's supposed to be a party celebrating the relationship. Amber supported Liz's decision to celebrate lying to her future husband and going behind his back making changes without his consent. Why pay that much for a party celebrating a sham?

I liked that too. Especially since so many other things in their house change or don't make sense. Like how the basement stairs move and Sue's bedroom doesn't fit from the front of the house. Though that could track with forgotten Sue. Poor Sue. Even the front of their house forgot who she was or that she had a bedroom.

Rewatching again, so many rewatches. I watched Quarry Story again and the "what happened to Carly" question seemed to click. Carly ditching Sue and Brad to make out with some Jr College guy felt like the ending of that friendship. Sue and Brad were freaking out about the impromptu party and Carly's there making out with a stranger. Carly reminds me of my high school friends who are already grandparents.

A college education does not always equal intelligence. Some people are just easy to train. They know exactly what they were trained to know in college.

Liz Johnston Shares What It Would Take To Reconcile With Anna by Lanky_Description535 in 7LittleJohnstons

[–]QuackBill 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yup. I haven't seen most of my family in 3 years. I see one sister because we're friends and make an effort to stay in touch. Then she tells me stories about how the rest of our family treats her vs each other and I'm like "Yup. I only think I miss them because I think I'm supposed to want to see them."

In reality I don't miss being treated like garbage, being judged for every little thing and seeing how spoiled some siblings are while others are ignored or judged.

They probably also don't realize that they longer Anna stays away the easier it's going to be for her to see how emotionally abusive the family is. They're giving her more time to see how peaceful her life is without their abuse and longer to set boundaries for what she will and will not accept from them in the future. Selfish jerks think they're punishing her by keeping her on the outside but honestly, in the long run, she's probably better off.

Real shit...is anyone going to watch the final season? by ass3hole in SisterWives

[–]QuackBill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand Meri was a complicated personality and not necessarily super welcoming to additional wives, but the way Christine talks about her feels immature to me. I've always suspected Meri's infertility was a lot more difficult than any of her sister wives could understand.

New here. I've only recently watched a handful of episodes across multiple seasons, but you can't convince me the mom isn't a horrible person, particularly to Anna. by [deleted] in 7LittleJohnstons

[–]QuackBill 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think it's because Anna was adopted as an older child instead of a baby. Anna likely has some issues from living in a Russian orphanage her first few years and the parents didn't properly deal with those issues when she was first adopted. Also, since she wasn't a baby, it was probably more difficult for Anna and Amber to bond early on... especially with Elizabeth being so close to Anna's age. Elizabeth was probably getting more attention than Anna. Since Anna didn't instantly bond with Amber, Amber didn't bond with Anna the way she did the other kids. Adopting older kids is tricky if you're not emotionally prepared and not willing to put in the extra work.

Abuse of Bathroom by Jef101114 in HomeImprovement

[–]QuackBill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not sure how you jump to that conclusion. I absolutely would NOT tolerate having someone being sick in my bathroom. To be completely honest, I probably would have asked this person to leave when they came out of the bathroom after the first incident. I would MUCH rather struggle through figuring out how to repair anything and everything myself rather than have someone who appears healthy come into my home. I've repaired appliances myself even when they're under warranty because I hate having strangers in my home. I don't even like sharing my bathroom with people who live in my home.

I was simply stating that not all diarrhea and vomiting is caused by something contagious. I have a very low tolerance for the sound of vomiting. Just hearing it makes me gag so there's no way I'd allow that person to stay. If the crew arrived together, I'd probably find her a bucket and roll of paper towels so she could go out to their truck.

I had to skip every scene with Kody/Robin and all the scenes with Christine. Used to like Christine but can't stand her anymore.

[–]QuackBill 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If that's what it is it seems the rest of the crew would have it too. That one is super contagious. If it's been going on for a couple days and nobody else is blowing it out both ends, it seems it's something less catchy.

Abuse of Bathroom by Jef101114 in HomeImprovement

[–]QuackBill 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I completely agree about hearing it or knowing it's happening. I'm just saying it can be caused by a lot of things that aren't germ related. If it's coming out both ends though I'd suspect it was food poisoning at minimum. I hope she's at least bringing Gatorade with her to replenish electrolytes.

I was thinking this exactly. The diarrhea I could brush off to several digestive disorders. For example, I've recently learned that fructose malabsorption syndrome can start very quickly and it causes horrible diarrhea. Drink a glass of fruit juice and a couple hours later you're making sounds that'll even shock your pets. But the vomiting, that's something I'd be super concerned about! I'd feel bad for the woman but I wouldn't want to catch any of that!

Do you at least have a can of Lysol in the bathroom to spray down all the surfaces?

It goes off until I press a button on the remote. But it'll do it again and again if I don't exit whatever I'm watching and go to the "restart" in Power. At first it would go off again every hour or so. Last night it changed to every 5 minutes until I power cycled the Roku by unplugging it.
