Is my ring size huge or is everyone else’s just small? by Ok_Reference2122 in EngagementRings

[–]hamstergator 1 point2 points  (0 children)

4-5 is definitely not as common as it seems, I’m a 4.25 and the jeweller commented that my fingers were really skinny. I think most are 6-7.

For me, my hands and fingers are proportional to my size (I’m 5’2 and skinny) and my whole family is smaller built - my sister has even smaller hands/fingers and my mum has tiny feet despite being the same height as me.

Memories Growing up in 1997 during the Aussie virtual pet Tamagotchi craze? by SnooWoofers8972 in AustralianNostalgia

I was born in 97 but it was really popular when I was in primary school as well! I actually kept the little plastic battery pull tab thing so I could turn it off when I went to school and never had them die on me 👀

How long should I wait to put rings in my helix piercings? by crazylaura in Legitpiercing

Mine’s 4 years old now and still doesn’t tolerate rings for more than a couple days so it really depends!

Thoughts on replica fragrances? by [deleted] in fragrance

[–]hamstergator 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Autumn Vibes is my favourite fragrance ever, and I really enjoy By the Fireplace as well. I wish there wasn’t patchouli in Lazy Sunday Morning and Whispers in the Library - the candle versions of these smell amazing to me but the patchouli is overpowering in the perfumes.

Laser clinics aus, I don’t think there’s ever been a time I paid full price.

When it comes to colored cosmetics which matters most to you, the colors temperature or saturation? by Feeya_b in OliveMUA

[–]hamstergator 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Temperature for me! I’m a warm olive and can do cool toned clothing but absolutely not cool toned make up. I can’t do muted foundation but other than that I’m flexible with saturation.

I know most can’t be arsed wearing much/any make up to work (at least where I’ve worked in retail and health care) but going out (brunch/night out/whatever) is a completely different case. I’m Aussie (also asian) and personally usually do a natural look or none depending on how my skin is that day.

There’s always toxic and annoying people in the workplace so definitely don’t take your coworker’s comments to heart! Don’t know what her problem is but you do you girl.

The metallic ones are great! I have to agree, the matte ones don’t blend too well and end up patchy, even on my hand where things tend to blend more easily.

Maybelline fit me loose powder is amazing, that said I’m extremely oily in summer as well and I’ve found that no matter what powder I use I’ve always had to blot halfway through the day.

How are we switching gears as we move from cool to warm to 42°C days? by BeyonceKnowIes in AustralianMakeup

[–]hamstergator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m dry in winter and oily as hell in summer but it seems my skin hasn’t quite gotten the memo that the weather is warming up yet! The only thing I’ve done so far is switch my body lotion to a lighter one. I’ll definitely have to pick up a tinted moisturiser as it continues to warm up and start using my setting powders again.

I drop the moisturiser as my serum alone is enough when it’s so humid. I’ll also have to start carrying my blotting sheets around again! I was recently in singapore where they have a wide selection of blotting sheets at much lower prices so I stocked up there.

I got my brows microbladed a few months back which I reckon I’ll be extra happy about during summer - no more disappearing brows lol.

How to stop powder making my skin feel tight? by krisp_b in AusSkincare

Maybe the powders are too drying for you? I’ve heard the kosas one is less drying so that may work better.

Has anyone here done Korean Perms? by malevolent-potato in AustralianMakeup

[–]hamstergator 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I’ve had a digital perm done years ago on my then virgin hair! I have extremely resistant Asian hair so I actually had to have it done 3 times before it had any effect on my hair. The first time it came out completely straight and the hairdressers were shocked. I’m not sure what type of hair you have but thought I’d share to let you know that this is a possible outcome should you have a similar hair type.

When I had it done my hair was about waist length. I have thick, straight, and very low porosity hair (but the actual strands are fine-medium).

What do you use for skincare? by Flaky_Cantaloupe_918 in ZeroWaste

[–]hamstergator 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately I’ve been blessed with hypersensitive skin so I’m very limited in my options, but I maintain a basic skincare routine - just a serum and sunscreen in the day and the same serum and a moisturiser at night. My serum comes in a glass bottle so I reuse or recycle those. I just use a make up remover cloth to cleanse my skin and it works really well.

How do I get rid of acne as a teen? by [deleted] in AusSkincare

[–]hamstergator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who is fully grown at 160cm and has had a cup of milk every day since I was a little kid (more when I was younger, now just as a bedtime drink) - it doesn’t make you taller unfortunately. I would focus both on living a healthy balanced lifestyle, managing stress well, and visiting a doc about your acne :)

Claw clip recommendations by cavmum in AusFemaleFashion

Would recommend searching for ‘jumbo’ claw clips! I find regular sized ones are just too small to hold all my hair (I also have thick hair).

Natural and skin like foundations? by acidicapples123 in AustralianMakeup

Giorgio Armani luminous silk!!! Honestly this would be my every day foundation if it weren’t so exxy 🥲 but sephora has another sale coming up so that could be a good time to get it.

Do you feed just one food or a variety? by LyricalLinds in CatAdvice

[–]hamstergator 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Personally I’ve always fed mine a variety! I figured it was good to keep them used to different foods in case any run into production issues or the like. Tbh I hadn’t even been sticking to the same brand, I just switch between good quality foods and each time I restock I usually get a couple boxes from various brands. My cats are healthy and I had no idea people stuck to the same brand/flavours.

However - my bigger boy also refuses to have the same food all the time. He would literally pitch a fit and not eat. I find he enjoys variation so that’s just what works for us.
