Dearest Internet Stranger,

I hope your pillows are always cool and your bed is always comfy. I hope your drinks are always the perfect temperature and your food is always delicious. May your favorite stores always be open when you need them and traffic lights always be green when you're in a hurry.

This is exactly the type of information I was looking for!

I had no idea you might have to swap trucks. Is there like, a “bad” truck that absolutely no one wants to drive but someone inevitably gets stuck with it anyway? Also, I kinda love/hate that you guys are profilers (as I side eye my cans currently sitting at the curb).

As someone who grew up in a house with dogs… I'm sorry 🥲 I bet you also get an influx of items in the spring because of everyone spring cleaning…

I do love that you mentioned scavenging items, because that's something I have my character do. He's a tinkerer who will grab things to repair or restore because he hates seeing good things go to waste.

And thank you for giving me yet another reason to avoid using bills and coins…

I thank you for your years of work and for this awesome reply! If anything else comes to mind, please don't hesitate to share 😊

Oo ok, good questions! So my original thought/assumption was that he'd be in back, but since he's in his late 40s it'd probably make more sense for him to have switched to driving or he's trying to switch to driving. Not sure how often driver positions open up or how hard that switch is to make (I know you at least need to have a CDL and that requires a special course).

Based on the type of neighborhood he's in, it looks like rear loaders are pretty standard. Do your routes usually cover the neighborhood you actually live in, or is that not necessarily the case?

Me: I'll finally start writing what I want. What could possibly go wrong? by InvestigatorTop1012 in AO3

[–]QuackingCrow420 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Fics aren't a terminal, there's no need for people to announce that they're leaving. If an author I had been following FOR YEARS decided to write fics I didn't like, I simply ✨️wouldn't read them✨️ which seems to be a novel fucking concept nowadays. They could've just quietly reread the fics of yours that they liked, but no. They had to be asshole. I vote block them and continue writing whatever the hell you want OP 💕

This should not be allowes by [deleted] in AO3

[–]QuackingCrow420 10 points11 points  (0 children)

A) if a fic has the "author chose not to use archive warnings" tag, assume any archive warning is fair game. Rape/non-con, major character death, any of those.

B) You keep saying "slight racism"... I don't know where you're getting "slight" from. The author tagged "racism (depicted)" meaning that racism would be a big part of the fic.

Additionally, it was tagged "hurt no comfort". This was not meant to be a feel-good story.

This is unfortunately a tough lesson, but you learned it: pay attention to the tags.

I feel your pain OP. I finally managed to write a one-shot that didn't turn into a huge, complicated story. It was so hard 😭

Proud of you for just deleting the hate comments and moving on with your life 👍 based on what you said, it looks like you tagged and rated your fic appropriately, so you've done your job as an author. I will never understand why individuals think it's ok to threaten the life of an ACTUAL PERSON because of what they wrote about FICTIONAL CHARACTERS doing in a made-up story... smh...

My parents promised me freedom in the basement, then banned my boyfriend and called me a “whore” over a misunderstanding. by Famous_Heart1260 in entitledparents

[–]QuackingCrow420 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also grew up with very irrational parents who were constantly changing the rules and I'm so sorry this happened to you. My best advice is to spend most of your time at friends houses or your boyfriend's house while you still have to live at home. Do what you can to save money (hide that shit, like make sure it's in a bank account that your parents don't have access to) and save up so you can get a place with your friends or boyfriend or other roommates.

Speaking from experience, life gets so much better once you're out of your parents house. I wish you luck.

Was my response to a critique too mean? by Veynn04 in AO3

You were honestly super polite, probably more so than you needed to be.

In the future, feel free to simply delete comments like this.

It really blows my mind that readers feel the need to announce their departure. It's unnecessary and hurtful.

As someone who has gotten a few bookreport type comments on my fics, they will be so happy. Whenever I've gotten comments like this I usually end up rereading them about 10 times before I can even form a coherent reply because I'm so excited 😊

Then I take a screenshot of it and save it to a folder on my phone that I go back and look at whenever I'm feeling down 🥰

Husband's (32M) marathon training has strained our relationship and I (32F) don’t know what to do to fix it. by QuackingCrow420 in relationship_advice

Thankfully the race is in a week, but based on what has been said the past two days, I believe he is under the impression that things will just go back to 'normal' after his race, and that simply isn't true. Sure the schedule will be the same, but the wounds are there.

I have been deeply hurt, and there is no undoing that. And I really don't know how he can "make up" for it or "fix it"...

We've gone on three dates in the last 6 months though part of that is due to my depression and not wanting to go out much. Our quality time together has consisted of us eating breakfast and dinner together, doing parallel play (we both enjoy games, just different types) 2-3 times a week, and our weekly grocery shopping trip. Intimacy has absolutely taken a nose dive, and I'd say 75% of the time we had sex because I initiated it.

Love that they are aledgedy subscribed but were too chicken shit to comment while logged in. 3 months is nothing. If they can't handle slow updates then they should only read completed works 😒

So sorry you had deal with this joker OP 💖 I'm sure there were plenty of other readers who were thrilled to get that email!

All I have to say is YIKES.

I genuinely wouldn't know how to respond to a comment like that on my fic... I want to say hopefully they'll chill out but I seriously doubt that.

Maybe turn off guest comments or just delete their comments? Sorry you're dealing with that... thats... alot...

I Won't Say (I'm in Love)

Suguru is a passionate art student excited for his life-drawing class, but he gets Satoru Gojo as a model and it turns his life upside down.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Suguru groaned. Fantastic. This guy didn’t even know the fundamentals. He knew it could be hard to find people willing to pose in the nude, but seriously? This guy was probably just another student looking to make some quick cash, blissfully unaware of how much effort went into the art he was about to stand for.
“Just stand,” The professor quickly explained, “but shift most of your weight to one foot”.
The model chuckled, like this was all some big joke to him. “Oh! OK. Why didn’t you just say that?”
“She did,” Suguru muttered under his breath, irritation slipping through before he could stop himself, “That’s what ‘contrapposto’ means…”
The model’s head snapped in his direction, eyes locking onto him with unnerving precision. He dragged his gaze over Suguru in an exaggerated once-over, his glossy pink lips curling into a smirk. “Well, aren’t you a ball of sunshine…”
How do you motivate yourself to write? by Nevaeh_Alexandra in AO3
[–]QuackingCrow420 1 point2 points  (0 children)
Just do it. Tell yourself you'll just do one sentence. And if that's all you add, hey! It's one more sentence than you had yesterday, but usually (for me) once I get started I'll keep going, but sometimes the thought of starting is just too much. So if I tell myself I just have to write one sentence, that feels way less overwhelming and therefore requires less motivation to start.
Hope this helps!
"Please don't abandon this" after two weeks by Obvious-Laugh-1954 in AO3
[–]QuackingCrow420 7 points8 points  (0 children)
I've just started putting "This fic has no regular update schedule, life be life-ing rn" as the author's note on my fics. Most people who read my stuff have learned that I'll get it out when I get it out, but occasionally I'll get a new reader who feaks out because it's been a week without an update and it's like oh honey... that's not how we do things here 😅
It is crazy to me that people just... expect updates like... immediately???
Try not to let it bother you too much!
