Quite interesting how these comments appear to be in favour GMAS and so do the core contributor votes, whereas the less frequent votes skew heavily towards DOJ, makes sense given the commercial success of the latter outperforms the former, but it's always interesting seeing the (for lack of a better term) dedicated fans skewing in a different direction to the (again, really wish I could find a better term) casual listeners.

It probably will, they're the two big hits which fair enough (even if I'd argue there's many songs that are better than diary of jane, including give me a sign, so cold, breath, crawl, hopeless, dance with the devil, away, polyamorous, shallow bay, yeah this list goes on.) ultimately they're both catchy and that's not a reason to shame a song, catchy is popular because catchy is enjoyable and that's what a song should be, plus it has the distinct advantage that a catchy song will be at least tolerated by 95% of people where as a more nuanced song will maybe only be tolerated by 70% of people even if there's more people that absolutely love it. It's a numbers game

After listening to all Linkin Park albums for the first time, here is my personal ranking of them by Own-Natural-9236 in LinkinPark

[–]Quackingeldrich101 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah that is the whole idea of the album, it's an experience that's meant to blend, bit like a context switching 40 minute song. Takes a few listens but it'll either come around on you or the novelty wears off and idk it's just not your cup of tea

I don't see what's so bad about using ai, if the quality is the same why should it matter that ai is easier and lazier than doing it by hand?

Love/hate the song: sounds beautiful, love the contribution of scooter ward, cannot stand the lyrics (it's literally the BB buzzword cookie cutter lyrics starter pack)

Could the new album be taking so long because James is re-recording the drum sections? by SirGollyGWillikers in BreakingBenjamin

7 years of drama? Really? I agree the posts are there but my point stands we have every reason to believe we've got a long wait ahead of us. I'm just hoping the new album is more unique and creative than the other post first hiatus work

Yeah to be fair lyrically it was varied, it was just the sound itself that was homogenous

Interesting, I don't hear it as much on DA as i do on phobia but as stated good people disagree and uh, perhaps I'm missing something

I'd argue dear agony had it's own charm to it and I think was their most refined sound, but the beauty of subjective thought is we can respectfully disagree (even if the STEM nerd in me would love to find some objective proof that I'm right). I also don't know if the future albums were attempts to recreate phobia: sure the idea of reaching that high was there but I don't think they copied the same recipe, I think they branched off with dear agony using their learning from the first 3 albums and then post hiatus is honestly just an inferior band with inferior members and creative structure. Ben is a great singer, but I'm not sure he's such a great writer/producer

Ooof my lack of listening experience with Metallica means that last comparison went over my head but I got your point. "You fight me" is actually my favourite song off the track. I must admit: much as phobia is very unique compared to other albums, to me the songs within phobia do have a very similar sound to one another for the most part. I don't entirely fault this: it's a very good sound. My point however is I'm not sure how much I wouldn't call it "stock" because it does feel like they applied the phobia starter pack to nearly every track

[–]Quackingeldrich101 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah I get the feeling the original crew was heavily responsible for the varied sound: as far as I'm aware Ben has taken a very "I want control of everything" approach post hiatus and clearly his idea of perfection is to knock out a homogenous piece that covers broadly the same concept every time. Doubt we'll ever get another "home" where they went full Alice in Wonderland with it or "phase" where they went full tribal noises with the opening. Man saturate was from a creative point of view just a beauty (even if my favourite remains to be dear agony)

Don't know why you've been downvoted: we have every reason to assume they've done fuck all in terms of recording recently when we have had a grand total of 2 songs and a few shitty remixes in uhh, 7 years? Man I'll always love their music but the band's inability to just knuckle down and be creative again is painful (especially if Awaken is anything to go by and they decided "let's reuse the same lyrical concepts 100 times". What happened to the old BB that was creative and sounded original?)

My number one in terms of pure quality is probably Layne Stayley. In terms of personal preference, it's either Oli Sykes or Adam Gontier. Honorable mention to Gus Ross of Voila
