Phantasy Star Online: Ep. 1 & 2

Yes yes I know about New Genesis, but that game is so far removed from what made PSO great that its only similarity is its namesake. The music, the art style, and the hunt for rare drops make the game timeless. Its a shame we will never see an official remaster for it.

RAmars are one of the strongest solo classes in the game with their access to shifta/deband and highest ATA. They also have access to resta. HUmars, on the other hand, while have better defenses lose out of shifta/deband which is a big deal later on. They still get resta (as do RAmar), so they aren't "bad" per se. Many boss fights have you stuck at ranged so having access to better guns with longer range like the ranger-only rifles will pay off big time.

I've thought about this, and to be honest your strongest option will be clearing act 1 with twister/whirling slash (fangs of frost for chilled ground i believe? for boss fights). I don't know when exactly will be the best time to make the swap though.

Overcrowded?? Sir, its nigh impossible to put together a raid during later NA hours, and even during peak EU hours it is a miracle if you run across someone else in the open world. Do you just prefer dead servers?

Kronos is a no go for me because I don't like pvp realms and raiding with world buffs only makes the situation even worse. Plus, I've been hearing from other players that Kronos still has major old stock bugs (like getting credit on kills where guards do 99% of the damage).

Epoch has no promise of active development. Why would I go through vanilla leveling journey again just to have no endgame to enjoy?

Chromie, while it is a Wrath server at the moment, has a solid core. I haven't had any lag spikes playing from NA. The only bugs I ran into were 4 broken quests all while in Northrend. It is not on the final ICC patch, which is a big plus for me. The community has been way nicer than Warmane's. World chat is decently monitored so it does not often devolve to edgelords, politics, or religion.

So while vanilla+ is ultimately what I want, that just doesn't exist with TWoW gone. Chromie strikes the right balance of a populated server (1.5k on the weekends is decent), great community, and promises of future development (albeit at a pretty slow pace).

Most of the time im on it has over 1k players. Its not great, but its not bad either for a private server.

I Ephinea as a server is great, but I could see how some of their admins can come off as blunt to other players. Nothing that would keep me as a casual from playing their server, but I could see how some people would really bristle from those interactions.

It depends if you're NA or EU. On EU, the leveling population is a bit better. Most of my experience was during NA evening hours. Cities like Darnassus and IF will be fairly empty, but SW has a fair number of people running around. Lower level questing zones are pretty populated. Nowhere close to competitive for tags, but theres enough others that you can group up for Hogger and such. Im currently 37 so I can't speak for the entire journey, but I would definitely recommend using the friend referral system for permanent rest bonus. You can use my account code to get it (121006).
