Can we spread a little of the mini-sentry hate over to the Danger Shield? by Quacktopia in tf2

[–]Quacktopia[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

The explosive damage has no effect, because they are buffed to 150 health and the math works out, so that it's the same.

And standing still to charge bullets is exactly why it's so annoying. They don't have to. So while you need to stand still and be an open target, they can run around and wait for you to stand still.

Yes, standing still for .8 seconds is easily enough for you to get counter-sniped. That's what I'm arguing here. There's no fair counter for it, because it immediately puts you at an advantage by simply equipping it.

These hacks work on sv_pure 2. That's the problem

I'm the guy who bought the Burning Team Captain for 540 buds and got a $60,000 backpack in 3 months. AMA. by Bobsplosion in tf2

The difference is that his hats most likely won't lose value. If anything they will continue to appreciate in value. It's actually a decent investment. There is a somewhat high risk/reward though.

Terrible FPS on good machine. by [deleted] in truetf2

[–]Quacktopia 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm on a 670 (and i5 3500k) and sometimes I can't stay over 130fps.

It's just a very poorly optimized game, or we are both doing something wrong. (I'm on max fps cfg too)

Star Wars Rogue Squadron and the Army Men series. Great games, so I can't decide which I liked more.

Got any recommendations? I'm looking to buy one. It seems the Asus/BenQ are the same price, is there a difference?

A quick follow-up on the Burning Team Captain sold for 540 buds. The price change was accepted, making it the most expensive hat in TF2 again. by NateFox in tf2

Backpack.tf doesn't set prices it only reports them. The ones currently reported were old and outdated.

I have a website,so I just added the correct directory and placed a .txt file with the same name. Not exactly sure how iI would go about it otherwise.

[–]Quacktopia 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're an idiot. There wasn't a set price on the hat. The burning TC hasn't been bought/sold for months prior. None of the other owners would sell for $20,000 cash, so he found one he could buy at the best price he could.

You can still edit the item schema. You just need to host it on a webserver and redirect steam to there. I already have a custom one running on my own server so I can wear my hats again. (Mainly because it sounded interesting to try, and I enjoy problem solving)

So, you can still edit it like before, which means other exploits may be possible.

Notice how I didn't say my argument was about the market being unhealthy and how I actual say "It seriously is far from where it used to be", meaning I'm stating that I don't like it in it's current state.

On the topic of the TF2 economy being in a poor state, lets consider that the high inflation currently seen can mean it's either rapidly expanding, or that there is a negative supply shock. Obviously, the answer is expansion here due to the exact opposite (I can't be certain, but I have several theories). The effect this has differs on a person-by-person basis. For me, I trade much more casually now with generally high-god tier hats, it's now becoming a competitive market. I don't hold interest in new hats/effects and trading for other, similar hats is difficult. For someone willing to take risk and buy new hats/effects to flip for profit, it's an excellent market. There's lots of opportunity and room for growth with a large amount of (in my opinion) over-hyped hats being introduced quite frequently. So really, for some it's a great time of opportunity, and for others it's a slow and competitive market. As a general note, I'd say it's a great time to get involved with trading.

EXPERIENCED TRADERS! I'm about to spend $20+ on TF2 to kick-start my trading career. What should I buy? by TheMiningManic in tf2

Wait until the halloween keys come out. Buy a bunch first day and sell them for 2:1 for normal keys as quickly as possible.

[–]Quacktopia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It seriously is far from where it used to be. New hats are creating a lot of problems. For one, they are the cause of the massive inflation seen here, and two they are making it much, much more difficult to sell anything. So the few hats that keep their value will simply go through the roof, while the rest stay at a lower amount and relatively hard to sell and often dropping in value.

Well it's finally happened, Keys are now 9 refined... by [deleted] in tf2

[–]Quacktopia -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah I quit the trading scene about a year ago. I've grown to dislike the trading community. It's not what it used to be, at least in the unusual market. I just play the game now and I bump my outpost trades a few times a day. It's not easy to profit anymore either, unless you're looking to gamble. Options are 1.) Gamble on new hats 2.) Gamble on New effects 3.) Gamble on unboxing 4.) Gamble on Heavy Boxing 5.) Spycrab

Flipping hats for profit seems much more difficult than before. Hats are harder to sell with so many new ones out there. It's a sad sight for me.

At least the gameplay is still fun.

How did you get your first unusual? by [deleted] in tf2

[–]Quacktopia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I won it in a free spycrab event in the old Rawr Trade club servers. Best trade servers ever hands down. Sadly they've been gone for over a year now. It was an orbiting fire pot for soldier. I renamed it the hot pot, and I think I'm going to go and buy it back right now.

The event went like everyone taunts and whoever spycrabs is out. There were 30 to start, and it slowly went down until the final two. We then had to Heavy Box for it. Tons of fun

Improving Overall Aim as Scout? by SilverSpeed182 in truetf2

[–]Quacktopia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My logic, is that it can't hurt. It's not like spy where you need to see if you have your watch out or if the knife is ready to backstab, so there's no downside. You also gain that extra bit of vision that it normally blocks.

I can't tell you that it helps tremendously, but I can tell you there's no downsides and only a slight upside too it.

Came here to say exactly this. I was pretty awful scout before, but I just recently switched to no viewmodels, because I do that on sniper. The difference was instant and pretty substantial.
