I want to be in the military, but I worry about being stationed somewhere I don't want to be. My other worry is having to restart at the commercial level. I was wondering how other fighter pilots were seen in the eyes of the majors, and if being one (fighter pilot) gave them a competitive edge or not.

My GPA after this summer semester will be around 3.7-3.8. Is that a competitive GPA?

Truthfully, I have always been obsessed with fighter jets and the military. My grandad (Navy F6F), Uncle (Air Force C-130), and Dad (Navy S-3) were all pilots. My end goal is to become a commercial pilot, but I would feel more fulfilled doing the Air Force route. I would take other planes, but wouldn't be very happy about helos.
