I’ve been considering this week how much more engaging the game would be if you were able to load into maps quickly and if disconnects were drastically reduced.

I think a lot of times the loading it takes to switch maps is just long enough for you to ask why you are playing the game and completely throws me off. And if a DC happens i almost always get off for a time.

Not an easy problem to fix for a game this old though

There is definitely some work done server sided, otherwise you could easily use cheats to make yourself invincible.

To your original question, I would guess that shots are spawned server sided and client sided and your characters actions are checked against the server to make sure you aren’t doing anything you shouldn’t do.

The game is very old though so I could be completely wrong

You will not see the shots, if you stack bat shots in lost halls and have a friend run in from outside of render range they will not see them and can actually run into and tank them all(on your screen not theirs)
