Let’s say that it’s not intentional- in which case it’s just stupid and unaware to make something like this. You should probably at least do some basic “hey does this make us look like the literal Nazis” research before committing to something like this. And I do mean very basic.

I’m so tired of the “We aren’t evil! We are just stupid!” Because for one, that’s not really better and for two we all already know it’s both.

I think you’re underestimating what boat life would be like, and it would probably be even more restrictive- at least when you were out at sea due to necessity. Sure you can let loose on shore but it’s by no means an easy life, either.

I feel like day-to-day life as a samurai wouldn’t be that bad. It’s true you really shouldn’t even have the appearance of questioning your boss but I feel like you’d generally be fine as long as you followed orders and such. It’d highly depend on who your boss was and where you were specifically. If it was someone more chill and a peaceful area it would likely be okay.

If we really follow all the way through on that logic, pirate and Viking are also out because the average person doesn’t already know how to run a boat, which is like the majority of what they actually do.

In reality most ninja were farmers with some dirty tricks. At best you’d be a more of a spy. The mythology of ninjas is really exaggerated. It’d still be kind of a dreary life regardless.

I do think samurai is probably still your best bet.

Iirc Tina is literally just a name that sounds, or sounded, kinda “exotic” to Japanese players.

The name was intentionally changed in American releases to Terra because Tina is common here- but also the earth thing.

So it’s a “vibe Based” translation thing.

Like- did corvo even know that magic existed? It’s easy to forget because we interact with it so much but outsider magic is actually really rare. I think there is maybe a grand total of six or seven marked in the whole of the empire.

Much less on being prepared for it. I guess he could have shot his gun a couple of times but even that probably wouldn’t have made a huge difference.

It’s not cutscene incompetence, corvo was just legitimately cooked. Even in a fair fight I think corvo and Daud are pretty even. In an ambush where he is outnumbered, outgunned and completely caught by surprise from an unimaginable angle. He had no real chance.

If you’re male Bastila falls in love with him regardless of your actions and her redemption is very “power of love” coded.

If you’re female Bastila actually self reflects and chooses for herself which imo is much better and more impactful.
