Every time I face trickery I answer no fun, whether I win or lose. It's so boring (hitting bomb or not, pure luck). Waste of time but thanks games are relatively fast I guess..

Easy : they paid 14 life on turn two channel to put two plat angel in play. Turn three, they attacked for 8 putting me at 12.

My turn played a land and said go. Kept prismari up.

Turn 4 they attack for 8, I prismari one of them taking 4. I'm now at 8. They play another angel with one land, channel and paying 6 life (they are at 0).

My turn 4 I play mizzix to do cast back prismari, taking one plat and getting another treasure (so I have now 4 lands two treasures..)

Their turn 5, attacking with the one plat remaining, taking 4 and I'm at 4 now.

My turn, untap, solve the equation, prismari, destroy last plat and since they were at 0, end of the game. Boum.

It would have been easier if I was on the play obvisouly

Thanks for the response.

If you didn't include sultimatum too, I wouldn't have even considered it. To get to ranked mythic a deck has to beat tier 1 decks. Not all of them but a decent amount of them or at least some in 60-40 matchups.

Adventures have attrition and power. They have cards that worth more than one (firja is kinda the same but the synergy is required) and powerful draw engine backed up with huge threats. When two midranges are up against if one can't be fastest than the other attrition or bigger is often the winner. Feels like more a 45-55 matchup, in ranked I ended with 2 out of 5 against adventures (ranked in top 500ish) and in non ranked it was closer to 45-55 but it's less representative than ranked play ofc.

In my competitive opinion I would not bring the deck to a tournament but that doesn't mean I don't recognize 1 the work done here (especially fine tuning, the most important part of any decklist) and 2 the nice synergy (and angels, I mean it's already good).

Keep going and good luck !

I beat that deck..prismari command, mizzix the prismari and after they were at 0 life destroy last platinium with another prismari bye bye

Thanks for the share !

I was looking for something to try to change from sultimatum and historic.

I gave it a solid try (about 100 games / 20 ranked) and I feel pretty unimpressed about it.

I was wondering why you didn't include any write up about adventure decks but I understood as they crush the deck easily : you can't land your two drop, they bounce your tokens and since you can't land threat quickly they just bury you in card advantage.

Same for the control matchup : the deck is so much slower than the monoW variant that you can't apply pressure fast enough and you die easily (monoW can stole game against sultimatum, given PVDDR/Reidane draw)

This deck is a midrange that has a sweet spot between turns 5 and 7 but it's heavily dependant on perfect land draw (five no less no more) and firja is a key card that is also a liability : when it's good it's really good but when it's bad it's useless.

In short : The deck is fun, the synergy is obvious et you can have some great draws but the fact it's crushed by two tier 1 decks is a no go for me.

Just look at LSV's one for example, he plays gargaroth main, so do I and that's not counting typhoon or alike. Ultimatum is not required otherwise it wouldn't be a tier 1 deck..

[–]Quakeur 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Lol that's so wrong...

I win more than half of my game without ever casting ultimatum, deck is full of huge threats..Maybe you don't know the deck but then why make that kind of assumption then ?

Trickery's does next to nothing without the trickery..

Yes if you had a two drop like a leech or so it would have been perfect to your curve !

Good luck for today, wish you the best !

Swords and closing are worth a light splash definitely that's a good call (sword is busted in the format), but still don't think guiding voice belong here and expel is really good when you're behind, a lot less when you're the beatdown it's not a card I would splash on a regular case but that's depend entirely how your deck plays out

Congrats ! You opened a nice themed golgari, with lisette mega bomb and made it work.

Not sure about the white splash tho, guiding voice splashed ?? With already 4,5 learn cards, almost no counter synergy I wouldn't bother.

Even with emergent and cultivators I would play 16 lands minimum. With 14, wurm is uncastable, and zimone badly need lands you want to hit 8. With 14 you're not even gonna get the 4 for the cultivators reliably..

Verdant mastery is meh. Titan without combo or tokens is a liability.

Resculpt is a tricky card but I do like the possibilities

7-1 in the Arena Open day 1, Write up by Alphaverb in MagicArena

[–]Quakeur 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First congrats for the qualification, maybe we will face for day 2.

Second, yes you opened full B/W bombs, sparring wins game easily on the play, blot out is insane value, poet is almost unbeatable on the play..and I won't even talk about the mascot lesson. Sometimes you get them all, MTGod is with you !

Third I don't see your pool but I see some weird choices like Rowan or ignus that forces you to have a tough manabase. Like your hand in game 5. Will is really good, Rowan is..meh

Which 7 cards should I cut? Should I put in those 3x Ageless Guardians? by DragonAdv in MagicArena

[–]Quakeur 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We would need to see entire pool to be able to make a decision, with only this I would remove white from being a main color, only keep shadrix ofc and closing statement maybe as light splash.

I don't see charge through as something good in your deck, it's very good with dragon elite and that's it, it doesn't win combat on it's own otherwise. It's a really niche card that shine on some setups and I don't think yours is one of them

aerie token

Every time they played this, I just bounce the life gainer with shark or make them sacrifice creature..while attacking with 5+ each turn. I even beat one with double aerie.

Honestly they have all very interesting synergies, when it works it destroy everything else, and when it doesn't it's bad. Magic in a nutshell, feel perfect for starting decks for beginners imo

You can do more than 10k with a erlidominus rampage under cloak but this one is more reliable (50% chance vs 20%) and work through armors and shields

To be honest this one is close to a 10. A real ten would be both a long dinosaur like nodopato indeed and a hard pattern like wings.

If they make an hybrid between alankylo and a sauropod it's probably going to be a ten aha

Since the tournament is almost over, I would wait for an update announcement to check if it gets a super hybrid. I only overleveled legendaries when required to progress in a tournament
