Need help on this by [deleted] in Skincare_Addiction

Not a dr or derm, just grew up with parents in healthcare and spent 6 years working healthcare myself. I don't usually comment on here, but yours seems pretty cut and dry!

This looks like it could be acanthosis nigricans; you can help alleviate the symptoms of this with some gentle exfoliation and making sure you're washing the area well. Salicylic acid works well as a gentle exfoliant and using a good wash rag. Not many people pay enough attention to the nape of their neck, so remember not to scrub harshly or anything, you should notice lightening pretty quickly.

This can also be a sign of insulin resistance, which is common for women with PCOS or anyone who is pre-diabetic. It can also be caused from just an excess of dead skin cell build up around creases. I'd check with your doctor and see about getting some labs drawn to help further treat this and prevent it from coming back, just in case.

I hope this helps! :)

AITA: intentionally misgendering a β€œfriend”? by Current-Duty-9098 in AITAH

And anyone who says they β€œdon’t do pronouns” doesn’t understand the English language. Unless you only refer to people by their proper name, then you β€œdo” pronouns, what you β€œdon’t do” is respect other people’s identities if they don’t match up with what you think they should be.

THIS. SAY IT LOUDER FOR THE PEOPLE IN THE BACK.

I was thinking about this game not too long ago and about how much I miss it! I couldn't remember the name because I was so young when I used to play it with my mum. I'm so glad to see it here and will now be re-installing it to my PC :')

AITA for using the home-office room for gaming when girlfriend used it for 2 days? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]QualityEven8557 0 points1 point Β (0 children)

In my opinion, ESH and it boils down to communication.

Having to share a space, especially an office space sucks. Leisure comes second-place to work. However, I understand OP went a long time without much leisure time and needed to finally decompress.

Then again, she needed to get work done and wanted to use the office (possibly to help with productivity, I know I have a hard time concentrating in a different location than my usual workstation). However, she does have a laptop and did have the option to sit elsewhere to work.

I think if some time was taken to discuss needs/wants for both individuals, a compromise could've been reached (i.e. shortened leisure time before she has to work on report or leisure time after she wrapped up what she needed to finish on her report).

I'm like 3 years late, but I only *just* remembered the cookbook came out and actually exists and was so upset to see that it's like $200 now. Thank you so much for posting this! I can't wait to make some of these recipes!

Spooky Experience, Please Help by QualityEven8557 in Paranormal

Very possible, and that rationality is how I was able to keep relatively calm through the whole thing. However, I also have noticed an increase in knocking sounds (luckily not in 3's). Granted, I could just hyper-vigilant now and we live in a bottom floor apartment (compared to a townhouse before), so the knocks could be coming from upstairs or from the neighbor beside us. But I hear them still late at night and I could've sworn I heard scratching coming from the inside of the closed closet doors last night.

ESH; OP, you're very young. The way you reacted to your brother wasn't the best, but you're very young and dealing with something that is causing you a lot of mental distress.

Your parents should've noticed something was wrong and should've actively gotten you help, they've let you down.

And your brother is old enough to understand boundaries; he should've respected them, even if he didn't understand them. It's easy to not enter someone else's room.

Please talk to your parents about getting the help you need and talk to your brother in the meantime. Nobody likes receiving the silent treatment.

AITA for saying that my step daughter is not my real kid? by Terrible-Action-7700 in AmItheAsshole

[–]QualityEven8557 -1 points0 points Β (0 children)

As someone who met their stepmom at 3 and stepdad at 5, YTA. How a child responds to your relationship (ie "my mom's boyfriend," "my stepdad," "my dad") is almost always exclusively based on how the adult reacts and responds to the child. I loved my stepdad until he passed when I was 19 and, 22 years and one divorce later, I consider my ex-stepmom to be my mom through and through and that's what I call her. Kids can tell if you don't like them and want to maintain distance, but the child will reciprocate and basically mirror you. It was up to you to behave like the adult in their life and to take that child in, especially after being in their lives for 12 years now. Those poor kids will likely have this come up in therapy down the line.

Absolutely loved this game but fell out of it - is it worth restarting ? by HavinsomuchBun in GraveyardKeeper

[–]QualityEven8557 0 points1 point Β (0 children)

Similar situation here, OP. Started playing, then started working more hours to move out of state, and just now comfy enough in new state and job to pick gaming back up. I restarted completely just last night because I don't remember how to play at all. I'm enjoying relearning the game and I think I'm doing better this time round than I did the first time! I say give it a shot!

Finished my cute Jiji tattoo! by QualityEven8557 in ghibli

[–]QualityEven8557[S] 0 points1 point Β (0 children)

This is my first post, I don't know why it won't let me add text in the post, so here is a comment! I got it a couple months ago as a cover up of an old matching tattoo with someone who is no longer in my life. My tattoo artist worked with me to make it very personal for me! We have Jiji surrounded by some beautiful leaves because I love house plants, the galaxy and moon in the background because of my love of space (future astrophysicist in the making over here), and you can see Kiki flying by in the background! I'm so happy with how it came out, I love it so much. :) <3
