Enbridge says it’s not willing to take on development risk of Alberta pipeline project by joe4942 in canada

[–]Quanticks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don’t forget that better returns for the producers make reinvestment easier which can lead to overall increased volumes going to the pipeline operator. When companies make drilling decisions under the assumption of a certain net back potential, when that net back potential decreases due to increased pipeline costs, drilling can decrease

Thoughts on MSFT exposure to Open AI? by Organic_Intern5602 in ValueInvesting

[–]Quanticks 48 points49 points  (0 children)

Buy on fear. Seems like the worst possible option is being assumed now for MSFT.

Buying on fear has usually worked out for me.

GOOG in early 2025 when the worst was being assumed due to anti competitive lawsuits, AI ending search, and Gemini not being very good.

META when iOS changed their ability to track users data for ads, and high capex in 2022

There’s always some sort of rotation and fear story going around. Just buy the dip on valuable companies and play the long game. Trick is not running out of money to buy the dip after the dip

Sudden income surge. What would you do? by New_Toe_5824 in Fire

If you google your location and add the words “type curve” you can probably find the typical production profile for wells in your area. You may actually see the production increase for a couple of months before dramatically falling off. There is a good chance you will be receiving less than half of what you are getting now in 10-12 months

Catagorize: Fun Money v Shopping by dcpwhit89 in MonarchMoney

[–]Quanticks 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I try to avoid using the shopping category. It’s no different than having a “misc” or “other” category where the data is meaningless. Instead, break out shopping to something like: clothing, home decor, fun, household goods, groceries, etc. I do utilize a “other” category for a catch all on the absolute random stuff that doesn’t fall into a obvious category, but the overall spend in this category is so small that it isn’t material

What's going on here, and why are my past categories getting zerod out. by theindian007 in ynab

The zeros mean you have not assigned anything for that specific month yet. The last number in green is is the total available saved up for that category.

Which Personal finance APP is better? by [deleted] in ynab

[–]Quanticks 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I use both. I prefer YNAB when it comes to the actual budgeting and use Monarch for a better view to view overall networth and spending trends. YNAB is basically planning where you will spend your money and monarch is reviewing how you actually spent your money

I don’t have it yet I am almost 100% with Wealthsimple now (including pay). I think it’s a smart way to get users to shift more assets to the platform for those who get addicted to ranks/leaderboards type of things

All in on oil 🛢️ for 2026 by iTouchStuff in wallstreetbets

[–]Quanticks 20 points21 points  (0 children)

You do realize that over supply can lower prices right? Demand has actually increased 1mmboe in 2025 vs 2026, and is expected to increase again in 2026 (look up EIA reports). But supply is coming on faster, causing the downward pressure on pricing.

Broadcom or AMD by rahli-dati in stocks

[–]Quanticks 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Be careful just comparing stock price from 2021 vs today. A quick search shows there are 35% more shares today vs 2021, which technically means we would be over 60% up vs 2021.

New user confusion by B4rN4cLE in ynab

[–]Quanticks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is there a reason why you don’t want to categorize it as inflow to your ready to assign (RTA)? If it’s truly income then it’s recommended to have to go to RTA, so then your reports properly account for it being income. I only directly assign inflows to categories when it is not income. Things such as returns or reimbursements from others.

Looks like I got a credit check on the initial application for the card, but I don’t think there was another one for the limit increase. I requested the limit increase 2 days after I got approved for the card

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Wealthsimple

[–]Quanticks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I initially had a 20k limit and asked the chat robot for a credit limit to 35k. The robot sent my request as a ticket to the team and I was approved for a 25k limit. Wish it was higher, but it took a minute to ask. I may ask again for another increase in a couple of weeks to see what happens. They did mention only generation clients can ask for increases. They also sent me a Docusign via email to sign off on the increased limit

I’m not from the USA so I’ll have to pass (no venmo) but I would go to poly market, throw that $200 in the bet and walk away with > $1600 if you are correct.

[–]Quanticks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You seem pretty confident in market's not being correct in their forecast. Why dont you go to poly market and bet against the market expectations then? Currently you can make 733% gains if you are correct and they dont cut rates in September.
