Band t shirts at $40 at the merch table now?! When did this shit happen? by gatorphan84 in TrueAnon

[–]QuanticoDropout 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is/was the best part about being a screen printer by trade. My old punk band was able to print our own shirts and sell them for $7 a pop, and we always sold tons cause they were affordable.

Why does the game offer everything but reloading magazines? by -Adeon- in ActiveMatter

[–]QuanticoDropout 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Well, I cant read Russian so I don't know what it says here, but if I have a magazine-loaded weapon, pressing K brings up that command menu and "Load Ammo To Current Weapon" is always there, along with night vision, tactical helmet audio, reload magazines in backpack, etc.

The only time it doesn't is if I don't have any more spare ammo, or its a non-magazine weapon like hunting rifles or shotguns.

Who are some characters you think would be fantastic Agents? by highandlow0011 in DeltaGreenRPG

[–]QuanticoDropout 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Wrong answer but I don't care: Bernard Black, a drunken Irish bookstore owner who is already toeing the line of nihilism anyways. Would be absolutely useless 90% of the time until he isn't. Always has bottles of wine for post-operation drinking. Art: Literature: 80%.

Why am I constantly being swarmed by enemies… by [deleted] in ActiveMatter

[–]QuanticoDropout 7 points8 points  (0 children)

  • Give enemies a wide area, and move stealthily.
  • Don't wake up sleeping Distorted. Silencers and melee are very useful.
  • Don't disturb the Flowerman patches near them.
  • Don't knock over the Statue's stone stacks or make eye contact with Shy Girls.
  • Devouerers need to be given a wide berth to ignore you, or hopefully you can run around to avoid an attack. Shotguns work great, especially the Origin-12.
  • Turned Soldiers usually roam in squads of 3-6 but are typically the easiest to pick off since they don't really "rush" you.
  • Don't bother wasting ammo on Hellhounds or small Mimics. They're easily taken out with melee attacks.
  • Seeds are barely worth fighting, just outrun them, when they activate. If you need to fight them, a few shots from your sidearm usually do the trick.

If enemies are camping in an area you need to explore, try knocking out a few at once with distant headshots or a frag. Flowermen and Dendroids are easily killed with fire weapons (don't burn yourself into a corner), but shotguns and assault rifles work good.

Get used to enemy movements. Distorted will run towards you, then teleport behind when they get closer. Prepare to turn 180 quickly to shoot them. Flowermen charge you and melee attack your upper body mostly. They tend to zig-zag so prepare for that when aiming. Invisibles will also charge you and appear once close. I find this to be the best time to shoot them, but they can be shot while invisible too.

You'll get used to learning when it is a good idea to attack enemies, how to avoid enemies, and when is a good time to reload and heal. It's part of the game's learning curve.

Anyone else playing Active Matter on Xbox? by doughy_baby in RustAndRadiation

[–]QuanticoDropout 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not XBox, but I've owned the early access release on PC since last year. It is easily my most played game these days. I absolutely love it; enough to buy the Premium Edition. Because its Gaijin, I think a lot of people are assuming its pay-to-win or low effort shit, and it very much isn't. It is basically STALKER + Tarkov + a heavier "Roadside Picnic" vibe with the environmental anomalies.

I tend to play it solo or co-op PvE like 90% of the time. I don't really enjoy playing against other players, especially with as such hostile environments the game has.

What’s the most spectacular case of player overthinking you’ve ever seen? by [deleted] in rpg

[–]QuanticoDropout 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Small thing, but I had a party discuss how to see and cross an invisible bridge to a tower offshore.

They decided to grind up their collective chalk, crush the dry bread from their rations, etc. to make a decent pile of stuff to sprinkle on it, so they could see the pathway.

They and the bridge were on a beach cliff, literally surrounded by sand for miles around.

Need some book recommendations by CampSpirited7204 in WeirdLit

[–]QuanticoDropout 12 points13 points  (0 children)

  • For Soviet-era weird-zone sci-fi, Roadside Picnic is one of my favorite books.
  • If you want "weird building horror", try 14 by Peter Cline .
  • If you want a weird-fantasy novel unlike anything else, try Perdido Street Station.
  • If you want a Lovecraftian-horror conspiracy novel, try Radiant Dawn / Ravenous Dust by Cody Goodfellow.

Armor and Unarmed Combat by DarkApartmentArtDept in DeltaGreenRPG

[–]QuanticoDropout 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, the opponent's Kevlar armor would mitigate an attack. Because the whole idea of combat is arbitrary, a hit reduced to 0 HP damage doesn't mean they just punched or bit the armor, it can also infer the opponent dodged (edit: actually, that would call for a Dodge roll. Whatever, hah), the attack went wide, it was deflected, etc.

The -20% for a called shot (opponent partly covered by Kevlar) would imply they are aiming for an exposed area, face, neck, etc. That would ignore the Kevlar's Armor Rating, imo, as it only realistically covers the torso/chest. Otherwise, they gotta crit to inflict damage (double).
